A Neighbours actor has joined the cast of the 2025 cast of Married At First Sight, and has already been matched up with his on-screen bride.
Jeff Gobbels is the third TV star to be cast on the upcoming instalment of the dating show, prompting backlash from fans over producers casting well-known names.
He made his debut on long-running Aussie soap opera Neighbours in 2017 as police officer Kurt Bridges and went on to appear in three episodes of the show.
He has also racked up other minor acting credits in TV mini series The Warriors, 2018 film Undertow and 2019 Chinese drama The Whistleblower.
Now, he is the latest actor to turn to reality TV on the upcoming 2025 series of hit dating show MAFS and has already been spotted filming his wedding.
His casting comes after fans threatened to boycott the 2025 series over its casting of a string of well-known personalities and TV stars, rather than everyday Australians.
The Bachelor star Sierah Swepstone and Perth-based fitness coach Paul Antoine, who previously appeared on The Real Love Boat, will both be part of the new season.
Jeff has been matched up with previously announced contestant Rhi Disljenkovic and pictures obtained by Daily Mail Australia showed the groom looking dapper for his wedding.

For the big day, Jeff looked suave in a black three-piece suit with a white corsage fixed into his lapel as he prepared to meet his bride for the first time.
He was seen being followed closely by the cameras as he prepared to walk down the aisle in scenes set to air on the Channel Nine show early next year.
As well as his acting past, Jeff is also the director of two businesses – a fruit-infused water range called Fi Water and alcohol brand Splash Vodka.
He has previously played football for Balwyn Tigers FC and was reportedly previously married from 2019 until 2021.
Looking for his second chance at love, the dating experts have matched Jeff up with glamorous Melbourne-based fitness blogger Rhi.
She was the first confirmed cast member for the upcoming twelfth season of the drama-packed dating experiment.
Rhi is currently employed as an IT account manager at Seisma Group, having previously held similar managerial roles at other companies.

She is also a fitness enthusiast and runs a popular fitness blog on Instagram, while she also reviews fitness spaces around Melbourne with her best friend Shayna.
The blog, which they started two years ago, has garnered just over 2,000 followers.
Her now-private personal Instagram account also boasts nearly 3,000 followers, showcasing her influence and popularity in the fitness community.
Her connections with the reality TV world also run deep, as she is followed by former MAFS alum Eden Harper and The Bachelor stars Matt Agnew and Sam Wood.
Friends describe her as a ‘gorgeous, fun doll’ who is always up for a good time.
‘Don’t get me wrong, she is a doll who also loves to have fun but wears her heart on her sleeve,’ a friend told Daily Mail Australia. ‘She is absolutely stunning inside and out.’
The 2025 weddings are well underway and Daily Mail Australia revealed pictures from one of the first weddings filmed in Sydney earlier this week.
‘TikTok tradie’ Dave Thomas walked down the aisle with a blonde bride on Tuesday, as the couple filmed their nuptials at Carriageworks in Redfern.

The Victorian-based groom, 36, is a whopping 6.6ft tall and owns his own caulking business, while he also boasts close to 30,000 followers on TikTok.
Also a bodybuilder and model, the strapping groom looked thrilled as he wed his stunning bride.
His gorgeous bride, whose identity has not yet been confirmed, looked stunning in a lace wedding dress for the special day.
Also set to walk down the aisle on the show is Melbourne mother-of-two Morena Farina, as well as The Bachelor star Sierah.
Sierah’s elimination from The Bachelor went down in reality TV history as one of the best exits when she hilariously confessed Jimmy wasn’t into ‘tall, horny bogans’ after he sent her home.
Despite her genuine search for love on her previous reality show, many believe her casting on MAFS is a strategic move by the producers to attract viewers rather than focusing on authentic matchmaking.
Some fans have even threatened to boycott the 2025 series after the casting of well-known reality stars, including Jeff, Sierah and Paul.
Fans of the show expressed their frustration on social media, accusing the producers of recycling reality TV personalities rather than giving ordinary Australians a chance to find love.

‘MAFS has lost its authenticity,’ one disgruntled viewer wrote on Instagram.
‘It’s supposed to be about genuine people finding love, not giving more airtime to people who are already famous.’
Another fan commented: ‘I’m so done with MAFS. Bringing in people like Paul and Sierah just shows how desperate they are for ratings. Boycotting this season for sure.’
‘For the last time Australia wants to see real genuine everyday people… not these types!! For the love of God,’ a third wrote.
‘Why can’t they find people that genuinely want to find a partner. Not someone that’s after social media fame. So over seeing all these people that are just social climbers,’ another questioned.
