Natalie Cassidy is set to take a ‘short break’ from EastEnders after landing a new job, hosting an upcoming Channel 4 series.
The Soap star, 41, who has played Sonia Fowler in the BBC show for 31 years, will be ditching her famed role for a short while to front a brand new project.
Natalie will reportedly be hosting a four-part series, named What’s The Big Deal, about popular trending consumer products.
A source told The Sun: ‘Natalie will be taking a short break, just like many of her co-stars do when they have another project.
‘Bosses always try to let stars spread their wings and if they can make it work with the often punish-ing soap schedule, then they’ll do it.

‘Natalie’s really excited to tackle the project for Channel 4. This is another string to her bow.’
Viewers will see Natalie chat to industry experts, scientists and families about teeth whiteners and ice baths.
She will get families to test the products and give their verdicts on the household items and see if they really are worth the price.
Natalie said: ‘I am looking forward to getting to ask questions we all want answers to, about must-have products.
‘Like all of us, I love to try the latest things but as a busy mum what I really want to know is what lives up to the claims and what is the best deal?’
It comes after Natalie admitted that even after her recent weight loss, she still struggles with body insecurities and calls herself ‘ugly.’
The actress faced cruel bullying as a child over her size before slimming down six years ago, and in a new interview shared how she still ‘doesn’t have that confidence’ about her figure.
Natalie told The Sun that her relationship with food stemmed from her late mother, who she described as a ‘feeder’, and shared that bullies would call her ‘Fat Nat.’

Natalie also famously slimmed down while recording a weight loss DVD, Then & Now, in 2007, which she shared she still bitterly regrets, as she was ‘bordering on having an eating disorder’
Describing her insecurities, she said: ‘I can be somewhere and feel a million dollars and not even think about my weight.
‘But put me in another situation, with a different group of people, and I’ll feel like the ugliest person in the room. And that is me being 100 per cent honest.
‘I don’t think I’ve ever — no matter what weight I’ve been — thought, ‘I look really good today’, standing naked in front of a mirror.’
Natalie, who is engaged to cameraman Marc Humphreys, also famously slimmed down while recording a weight loss DVD, Then & Now, in 2007, which she shared she still bitterly regrets, as she was ‘bordering on having an eating disorder’.
The star said she lost a total of four stone in three months, before regaining it all again ‘and more,’ despite being paid £100,000 for the project.
In recent years, Natalie said that while her weight has fluctuated, but now credits intermittant fasting as helping to maintain her healthy figure.
Natalie also shared that she is mindful about how she discusses her weight around her two daughters Eliza, 13, and Joanie, seven, as her eldest has already experienced some teasing at school.
