Naomi Watts surfaced in New York this Tuesday, in her first sighting since her amicable ex Liev Schreiber was hospitalized for a health scare over the weekend.
Although they split in 2016, the former couple retained a friendly co-parenting relationship as they brought up their children Sasha, 18, and Kai, 16.
Their bonhomie extended to the point that Schreiber publicly shared his warm congratulations when Watts married Billy Crudup two years ago.
Schreiber, 58, was rushed to the hospital in New York on Sunday with a concerning headache and spent the night there on doctor’s orders.
He underwent testing on Monday and was ‘cleared to return to work,’ his representative told the Daily Mail. He has now checked out of the hospital
The following day Watts, 57, appeared careworn and makeup-free as she stepped out in New York City to take her tiny rescue dog Izzy for a walk.

Eschewing the glamour of her recent Ryan Murphy shows All’s Fair and Feud: Capote vs. the Swans, Watts opted for a casual ensemble.
She pulled on a cozy-looking boyfriend fit dark grey sweater, teamed with a set of Free City sweats and a pair of camel-toned slippers.
The King Kong actress’ mood looked as though it might be somewhat downcast as she headed up the street in the gathering late-autumn chill.
Her sighting came as Schreiber broke his silence after being rushed to the hospital in New York City on Sunday evening.
His rep told the Daily Mail that Schreiber is doing much better, saying in a statement: ‘Out of an abundance of caution, Liev went into the hospital for testing and as of this afternoon, he has been cleared to return to work.’
The actor has been in Philadelphia filming an untitled Apple TV+ thriller based on Lars Kepler’s bestselling Killer Instinct.
A source has told the Daily Mail that Schreiber has been left ’embarrassed’ by all the attention his hospital visit has garnered and does not like that people knew he went to the hospital for a headache as it makes him look ‘weak’ when he is at the height of his career.
But the star is also just glad he is feeling much better as the pain was ‘intolerable’ and he is grateful to the doctors who helped him.

Schreiber was able to move about fine on Monday and later checked out of the hospital, the site also noted.
It’s not the first time the actor has had a health scare related to a headache.
In 2024, he revealed that he was diagnosed with a rare condition called transient global amnesia (TGA), brought on by a migraine, while starring in ‘Doubt: A Parable’ on Broadway.
TGA is a rare, benign condition characterized by a sudden episode of memory loss that resolves completely within 24 hours, according to the Cleveland Clinic.
‘The worst nightmare that an actor could possibly ever experience. I was in my dressing room and I had a terrible headache. I thought it was maybe a fast-food headache, but it felt a little stronger than that,’ he shared during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers.
‘I’m walking down the stairs and I’m thinking, “This is not normal. I don’t feel okay.”‘
He said he knew ‘something was really wrong’ when he saw his co-star, Amy Ryan, backstage but could not remember her name.
His condition worsened when he stepped back onstage and could not remember his lines.

Schreiber and Watts were together for 11 years before they broke up in 2016 – a development eclipsed by the much more publicly acrimonious divorce of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie
Schreiber and Neisen then exchanged vows over the summer of 2023 at the sprawling Montauk mansion that he originally lived in with Watts
When the newlyweds announced the birth of their daughter on Instagram, Watts ecstatically commented: ‘We love baby Hazel!!’

‘It seems they’ve got the bug,’ said Watts, confessing that she harbors ‘mixed feelings’ about her children becoming performers, via Net-a-Porter
When Sasha headed off to college in August, Watts touchingly posted a photo of herself sobbing into his chest as he stood outside surrounded by his luggage
‘It all vanishes,’ he explained. ‘The play is gone from my head… I know I’m in a play, but I don’t know what play I’m in.’
‘My doctor, who’s a friend, shows up, and he had a terrified expression. My wife shows up, and she looks terrified. I think, “Okay, I’ve had a stroke. This is it.”‘
Despite being diagnosed with Transient Global Amnesia, Schreiber was certain he had suffered a stroke.
‘The guy said, “You’ll never have this again and it’ll be gone in 8 to 24 hours,” which I didn’t believe. You know, as a typical sort of Jewish hypochondriac person, I’m convinced that I had a stroke and they just didn’t find it.’
Schreiber revealed that he got an MRI and it showed that there was no brain bleed, and that his brain looked ‘perfectly fine.’
‘Apparently it’s brought on by migraines and rigorous coitus,’ he quipped.
‘I go to sleep, I wake up, I remember the whole play,’ he recalled. ‘I never had another problem with it. I was embarrassed and thought everyone would think I was lying and taking a night off from the theater.’
Meyers joked that it was ‘so sad’ that the Emmy-nominated star got TGA from a migraine and not from sex.

‘I know! When the other option is to literally have your brains f***** out, I had to get it from a migraine,’ Schreiber said with a laugh.
Schreiber is perhaps best known for starring in the title role of the Showtime crime drama series Ray Donovan, which aired from 2013 until 2020.
The San Francisco native is married to Taylor Neisen, 32; they met in 2017, married in July 2023, and had their first child, a daughter named Hazel Bee, in August 2023.
Schreiber and Watts were together for 11 years before they broke up in 2016 – a development eclipsed by the much more publicly acrimonious divorce of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie around the same time.
By contrast, Watts and Schreiber retained such an amicable co-parenting equation that they went into self-isolation together with Neisen during the coronavirus lockdowns so that Sasha and Kai be with both of their parents.
Schreiber and Neisen then exchanged vows over the summer of 2023 at the sprawling Montauk mansion that he originally lived in with Watts.

Amid Schreiber’s blossoming romance with Neisen, Watts struck up a relationship with Billy Crudup, whom she eventually married in June 2023.
