Naomi Watts fans have been left baffled by the Hollywood star’s pronounced American accent in new promotional video for her own menopause products.
The British-born Australian actress, 56, shared new at-home videos advertising her Stripes Beauty company and Black Friday sales on Thursday.
‘I wanted women to feel like,’ she began in an almost Californian accent, before abruptly revealing an Aussie lilt on two words, and then reverting to a distinctive American twang for the remainder of her monologue.
The Watcher star’s real voice has always been somewhat confusing because of the stark difference between her American characters’ voices and Naomi’s own uniquely blended English-Aussie twang.
But she now appears to have a more distinct American accent off-screen.
This may be because Naomi has recently been filming All’s Fair alongside reality star Kim Kardashian.

The pair are fronting Ryan Murphy’s forthcoming legal drama, crafted specifically around the Skims founder, together.
Naomi confirmed her off-screen friendship with Kim last month when she shared a sweet birthday tribute to her.
The pair of unlikely pals appear to have grown close in recent months after they starred in a Balenciaga campaign together earlier this year.
Naomi is identified as being British, and sometimes Australian, because of her early life spent in the UK.
In an early appearance on The Ellen Degeneres show in the 2004, to discuss her Academy Award nomination, she explained she’s always picked up regional accents wherever she’s moved to try and fit in and make friends.
Namoi spent part of her childhood in North Wales and her family moved to Sydney when she was 14-years-old.
At the time of her Ellen appearance, Naomi was also dating the late Australian actor Heath Ledger.
‘What I find amazing is you have this accent because you’re from Australia,’ Ellen said.

‘And England,’ Naomi corrected her.
‘You’re from both places?’
‘I was born and raised in England, but I moved to Australia when I was 14, with my family,’ she explained.
Naomi had been performing in Australia for over fifteen years before her breakthrough role in David Lynch’s 2001 film Mulholland Drive.
Ellen quizzed the rising star on why she had ‘no trace whatsoever’ of the American accent that she performed in movies.
‘Well, I work really hard on it,’ Naomi explained. ‘It’s a big job. It’s a tool to get you closer to the character.’
‘Do you find that you continue to speak with a different accent afterwards?’ Ellen asked her. ‘Or do you go right back to this?’
‘I tend to go right back to this,’ a young Naomi said in a posh English tone.
After working alongside Kim Kardashian for several months, that appears to have changed.
The Emmy-nominated actress gushed over the Kim’s acting chops earlier this year, in stark contrast to the vicious swipe she took at the Kardashian clan a decade ago.
‘I love that she’s trying different and new things all the time and seems to do very well at many of them—or all of them,’ Naomi told Vanity Fair.
‘I am impressed by her—wildly impressed. Anyone who works hard deserves major accolades. She’s clearly a hard working woman.’
Fans were very surprised to learn of the blossoming bond between the two stars —likely because in 2015 Naomi said the Kardashians’ impact on the entertainment industry was ‘scary’.
She took aim at how the culture of reality TV celebrity and famous-for-being-famous stars had diluted the glamour of Hollywood’s leading ladies.
‘There’s so much focus on celebrity these days; we’re in the Kardashian era and it’s slightly scary,’ she said.
‘But when you hear that there are ways to use [your celebrity status] purposefully, it makes you feel good about what you do. When it’s related to matters that you’re passionate about, it’s easy to get involved when the invitation comes.’
Kim, who wowed audiences with her recent turn in American Horror Story, was spotted filming with Naomi in Camarillo, California in October.
Murphy’s new series, which centers on an all-female law firm, boasts an all-star cast, including Naomi, Kim, Sarah Paulson, Niecy Nash, and Teyana Taylor.
Kim is executive producing and her mother Kris Jenner, is playing one of the divorce lawyers.
Ryan Murphy, for his part, appears to be trying to replicate the on-screen magic he conjured up in American Horror Story by writing a character ‘specifically for Kim.’
In AHS: Delicate, Kim shone as devilish PR woman Siobhan. Her Kris Jenner coded character preyed upon an unwitting young actress (Emma Roberts) who signed her unborn baby over for an Oscar.
