Anna Richardson has opened up with her weight struggles, revealing her issues began when she was a small child.
The TV presenter, 54, revealed that her issues stemmed from the age of four when her mother had been rushed into hospital, admitting she had become ‘terribly upset’ and turned to food for comfort.
Speaking on the Fuel Good Factor podcast, she said: ‘I’ve always really struggled with my weight, so I’m very interested in health and wellness.
‘I was always very fit at school, but I was always the chubby kid, so I’ve yo-yo dieted throughout my life and I now know exactly where that’s come from.
‘I was four years old and I was terribly upset because my mum, who was pregnant with my little brother, had been rushed into hospital and was kept in hospital for eight weeks.’

The Naked Attraction host continued to gain weight while her mother was in hospital and during her state of anxiety.
She added: ‘I woke up in the morning and my mum had gone, and had been told that she was very ill, so from that moment on my dad – to try and help me – fed me. ‘
‘My mum said that when I went to see her everyday in hospital, I was obviously so upset that, week by week, I was getting fatter and fatter.
‘I was obviously terribly upset and I would sing to myself ‘yummy, yummy, yummy, there’s room in my tummy for some more’, so I was very anxious.’
In the years that followed, Anna tried ‘every diet going’ but it was only when she stumbled across the 1:1 regime did she have some success.
She said: ‘I’ve tried every diet going so I thought I’m going to give this one a go because I have got some weight to lose.’
The plan mostly consists of shakes, soups porridge, savoury rice, couscous and pasta as well as smoothies and meal bars.
There are six variations of the plan in total and dieters are to stick to to no more than 1,500 calories a day.
The former Supersize vs Superskinny presenter has had a ‘really good experience’ on the plan so far and has already lost half a stone.

As part of the regime, she has also received the help of a consultant and admitted that she has learned to think about dieting in a brand new way (pictured in November 2022)
She added: ‘I’ve had a really good experience, it is a low calorie, high protein, calorie-counted step programme.

She said: ‘You have your consultant that you work very closely with…she has been incredible at keeping me on point, on plan, and giving me techniques that I’ve not thought about before.
‘I’ve done an awful lot of mindless eating, so I find The 1:1 Diet very helpful for me’.
