Mystery Surrounds NFL Star Analyst Mark Sanchez’s Wife After His Stabbing and Arrest

As former New York Jets star Mark Sanchez faces a felony charge of battery, his wife actress Perry Mattfeld has remained radio silent.

As of Tuesday morning, the ‘Shameless’ star, 31, had yet to issue a public statement of support for her embattled husband, who was arrested and accused of instigating a violent altercation with 69-year-old delivery truck driver Perry Tole.

Both men sustained serious injuries during the October 4 altercation in Indianapolis, and Sanchez, 38, was stabbed in the chest and hospitalized on Saturday morning where he was later arrested.

Sanchez has been noticeably absent from Mattfeld’s Instagram page, with the most recent photos of the pair from her pregnancy announcement on February 14. And he has appeared sparingly on her social media in recent years, only featured in photos from an August 2024 trip to Italy, a February 2024 wedding picture and a snap from a visit to their alma mater USC the same month.

Mattfeld, whose latest post was to promote her new show ‘Chad Powers’ on September 29, tied the knot with the Fox Sports commentator in a 2023 ceremony in Oaxaca, Mexico.

The couple met through a mutual acquaintance former NFL player Scotty McKnight, and got engaged in 2022, with McKnight presiding over the wedding.

Following their nuptials, Sanchez told People that he ‘couldn’t turn off the tears’ at tying the knot with his soulmate.

‘Emotional is a massive understatement,’ he said. ‘Tears of joy, love and gratitude for getting such an incredible life partner.’

But in the wake of Sanchez’s arrest, a number of online commenters appeared to be critical of the NFL star.

‘If I was married to Perry Mattfeld,’ one said, ‘I would simply mind my business and avoid getting stabbed in alleys.’

Another added, ‘This whole Sanchez thing is crazy. I was just googling his wife Perry Mattfeld the other day bc she’s in this show Chad Powers I was watching.’

The Daily Mail has reached out to Mattfeld via Instagram, her reps and reps for Sanchez for comment.

Sanchez’s felony arrest after the altercation could cost him his NFL analyst job at Fox, a network insider previously told the Daily Mail, calling it a ‘career-ending event.’

‘He’s already been told that he won’t be on camera again, and we’ve made the moves to replace him,’ the source said. ‘As long as there are serious charges pending we really just can’t have him on screen.

‘He has not yet been officially fired, because that takes some legalities, but that’s where this is going,’ they added. ‘He has a morals clause in his contract, like everyone else. This arrest violates that clause, and it’s a terminable offense.

‘I guarantee within the next couple days, a statement will say that Sanchez and Fox have decided to part ways. This is a career-ending event, especially while things haven’t even gone to court yet.’

Sanchez was covering the Indianapolis Colts-Las Vegas Raiders game over the weekend when the incident occurred.

His wife’s silence comes after Sanchez’s brother Nick confirmed that the family was distressed as Sanchez continued to be under medical care for his injuries.

Sanchez’s brother Nick told TMZ Monday that ‘this has been a deeply distressing time for everyone involved.’

He added, ‘Mark and our family are incredibly grateful for the concern, love, and support we’ve received over the past few days.

‘Mark remains under medical care for the serious injuries he sustained and is focused on his recovery as the legal process continues. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the first responders and medical staff.’
