The party went on until morning. There was drink, laughter and music so loud that one neighbour reported a sound like drilling coming through the wall of star ’s rented villa in the Spanish town of Santa Margalida, Majorca.

But just after 7.10am on Wednesday 6 May, the music suddenly stopped.

It is unclear which of the half-dozen guests partying at the £200-a-night property first came across the body. What we do know is that 35-year-old Hall was found lying motionless in a pool of his own blood, shards of glass protruding from his chest and neck.

Emergency services were at the scene by 7.30am, but were unable to save him. Hall’s body was removed at around 1pm after the Spanish Civil Guard finished questioning his five companions.

It later emerged that the former model, clothing designer and aspiring artist – who found fame on The Only Way is Essex () in 2015 – was in an ‘agitated’ state shortly before crashing through the villa’s glass-framed back door which led out to a small private garden.

Days later the Civil Guard declared the incident ‘appears to be an accidental death’ before clarifying: ‘There is nothing pointing to it being the result of a at this stage.’

Ten days on, sources close to the investigation maintain that Hall’s death was accidental. But this is far from the end of the story.

For, in a country where autopsy results are not made public, vague statements from the Civil Guard have done little to quell the chorus of disbelief as to just how a fit, healthy and much-loved British man could have died in such unusual circumstances.

Is all really as it seems?

Now, the Daily Mail forensically pieces together the definitive account of the circumstances surrounding the star’s passing, including his enduring love affair with Majorca and the fraught final hours that brought it all to a premature end.

Friends close to Hall were deeply concerned about his state of mind in the months leading up to that ill-fated morning. He was facing mounting debts back home in Britain – totalling a staggering £1.5million – and two years ago had attempted to take his own life.

Sources close to him have told me of their concerns over his substance abuse, with one neighbour reportedly having heard his group of friends talking about using recreational drugs the day before his death.

Perhaps most intriguing, however, are the currently unknown identities of the five people partying with Hall at the time of his death. But let’s start with what we do know.

Hall – who starred in four seasons of TOWIE between 2015-16 – is understood to have travelled to Majorca on Tuesday May 5. This is an island he knew and loved, having lived here as a child while his parents made a string of property investments including purchasing a hotel in glamorous Puerto Portals. Despite moving back to the UK over a decade ago, Hall continued to spend most summers on the island. In one of the cruellest ironies, Hall described Majorca as his ‘healing island’ in an Instagram post on March 19.

So when the reality star rolled his suitcase down the quaint cobbles of sleepy Santa Margalida last week – a small northern town home to just 14,000 people – he of course had no idea about the fate that awaited him.

Hall had booked the inconspicuous two-bedroom ‘Lluna Blava’ villa – Catalan for ‘blue moon’ – with a well-placed source revealing that he had booked for just one guest.

That Tuesday evening Hall met a group of friends believed to be local and in their twenties. The friends are understood to have partied a 40-minute drive south of Majorca, in the capital city of Palma, before returning to Hall’s villa in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

As the party raged on, Hall posted a video to Instagram in the early hours featuring clips of himself and his daughter – 8-year-old River, born to ex-partner Misse Beqiri – alongside the caption: ‘Life is b******s sometimes but I’m gonna try to remember the good things’. The video was accompanied by the track Beast Of Burden by The Rolling Stones.

By 4.40am, a neighbour reported walking past the property on their way to work, remarking on the loud music and noting that the front door’s light blue shutters were open.

At 6.30am, a second neighbour recalled passing the property where the party was still in full flow.

But some 45 minutes later, at around 7.15am, a third neighbour – 70-year-old construction worker Rafael – heard a loud crash and the sound of smashing glass. Seconds later the music stopped and an eerie silence descended upon the narrow street.

‘We heard a loud bang and shattering of glass,’ Rafael told the Daily Mail. ‘I heard no screams. I had been heading out to go to work, so I went across the road and ran through the door. I could then see a body lying on the patio surrounded by a pool of blood.

‘His friends were in the street shouting, “Help, help!” He was badly cut all over his body, especially on his arms. He was topless but someone had placed a T-shirt over his body. He also had glass shards lodged in his neck and chest. There was a big red mark on his head. I tried to see if there was anything I could do to help save him but there was sadly no sign of life,’ Rafael concluded. ‘He was not breathing and I could feel no pulse.’

Vitally, and contrary to suggestions Hall and his friends may have been drinking and taking drugs, Rafael claims he saw no evidence of either.

‘I did not notice any bottles of alcohol lying around or drugs scattered around the property. The young people, who were well dressed, seemed nervous and upset about their friend, but they did not look as though they were high on drugs.’

The private autopsy began last Friday in the island’s capital. However, as Hall’s death likely meets the British government criteria of ‘sudden, violent or unnatural’, a coroner’s inquiry back home may yet produce both a toxicology report and an official cause of death.

Hall is seen in Marbella, Spain in 2015, during which time he was starring in TOWIE. He left the show in 2016

What any inquiry is unlikely to reveal, however, is the truth about Hall’s mental state given the problems he was facing.

For a start, we know he was in financial trouble. In March 2023, his fashion label Prévu – which had been worn by everyone from south London rapper Stormzy to American supermodel Bella Hadid – went into administration having been purchased by Mike Ashley’s Frasers Group.

‘I had put my heart and soul into something and one day it got taken away from me,’ Hall later said.

He then set up a second clothing line ‘By Jake Hall’ which went into liquidation last year. Accounts for the holding company ‘Prevu London Limited’ show the firm went bust with debts of £1.49million including more than £180,000 owed to HMRC.

Earlier this week, this newspaper reported that Hall had recently been scammed out of £100,000 by a New York art dealer. This is of particular note seeing as Hall had increasingly focused on his art in the past year, inspired by his daughter’s love for ‘doodling’ and following the collapse of his clothing portfolio.

‘I was constantly waking up in the night, I couldn’t sleep,’ Hall admitted in an interview with online magazine Entitled1 earlier this year, ‘and then, one day, we moved to Spain and my daughter said to me, “Daddy, let’s draw.” It took me out of that dark place. My daughter took me out of that place by simply doodling and drawing.’

A friend of Hall’s told the Daily Mail that the star had begun renting a workshop on the island to work on his craft, painting a string of large abstract canvasses. He was also collaborating with close friend on the island, Stella Lavinia, on a string of artistic retreats called ‘Cafe 137’, something he was sadly unable to see to fruition.

On top of his financial woes, controversy seems to have followed Hall following his ascent to stardom after joining TOWIE. That same year he almost lost a kidney in a violent brawl in a Marbella nightclub where he was allegedly stabbed with a broken bottle.

Hall was later pictured in a car alongside British fugitive cocaine baron Gerard Hagan who had been jailed for ten years in 2008 for his part in a 1.5-tonne cocaine smuggling operation, but had escaped prison and was hiding out in Spain. And then, in 2018, Hall was subject to a ‘contact ban’ against his ex-partner and the mother of his child, Misse Beqiri, with a source claiming the glamour model ‘found him to be controlling and threatening’.

Arabian model and Real Housewives of Cheshire star Beqiri got engaged to Hall in early 2018 though the couple broke off the engagement just seven months later. Regardless of their unacrimonious split, 39-year-old Beqiri took to Instagram to write a moving tribute to her late ex-partner: ‘My heart is shattered, and so is our daughter’s. You lit up every room you walked into - your smile, your charm, your energy that filled the air’.

It is perhaps no surprise then that a friend of Hall’s told this newspaper that ‘Jake was killed by TOWIE’. The source continued: ‘Being on the show was the worst thing he could have done, it sent him off the rails. He was very up and down and had a real problem with booze and drugs.’

This week the Daily Mail spoke with professional boxing coach, Paul Hamilton – who trained Hall at the island’s Fit Club Mallorca Gym – and who echoed the same sentiment, stating he had hoped boxing would keep Hall on the straight and narrow.

‘Jake had been coming to train with me on and off for years,’ Hamilton began. ‘I kept trying to convince him to do one of the fights. He’d always say, “Yeah, maybe”, but he never fully committed to it.

'Honestly, I think it could have been amazing for him if he had taken it more seriously. It would have given him focus and probably kept him away from the drinking and everything that comes with that lifestyle.’

Unsurprisingly, for a man so well-liked, tributes have poured in since his passing including from TOWIE presenter Denise Van Outen. But perhaps none has been more moving than that from Hall’s own family.

On Monday this week – five days after the accident – Hall’s parents, Greg and Jacqueline, as well as brother Sonny, visited the NU Mallorca beach club in the north of the island where last month Jake had unveiled a 15ft high sculpture he’d designed as part of his foray into the art world.

A bouquet of lilies was left in a champagne bucket beneath the sculpture with a source at the high-end club – which serves everything from acorn-fed Iberian ham to Wagyu carpaccio and Asian oysters – revealing the family spent 10 hours on site chatting with family friend and club proprietor Roque Rodriquez.

Father Greg then posted a picture of the sculpture to Facebook alongside the caption: ‘Thank you so much for all your love.’

A further tribute came from the ITV show that first made him famous.

‘Jake was a part of the TOWIE family for a number of years and we send our very deepest sympathies to his family and friends following today’s very sad news,’ said a spokesman.

This statement follows eerily on from a similar one put out by the show following the mysterious death of another TOWIE star, Jordan Wright, 33, who died on the Thai island of Phuket in March.

It’s no wonder then that some fans of the show have begun talking of a ‘TOWIE curse’.

Other stars to suffer horrific tragedies include original cast member Lauren Goodger whose second daughter, Lorena, passed away in 2022 at just two days old. That same summer former cast member Yazmin Oukhellou was involved in a horrific car crash in Bodrum, Turkey, that killed her 33-year-old boyfriend Jake McLean. He was behind the wheel of the Mercedes E class saloon, was almost three times over the legal limit and had cocaine in his system when the vehicle veered off a 70ft cliff.

Jake Hall’s untimely passing now only adds to the desperately sad litany of tragedy.

But while the outpouring of love from friends on the island continues, theirs is a grief marred by frustration as questions remain as to what exactly happened in those final hours at the ‘blue moon’ villa.
