A My Kitchen Rules star raised eyebrows on Wednesday night after she committed a questionable act in the vegetable aisle of a Woolworths supermarket.

The episode saw sisters Patricija and Brigita hitting the shops to prepare for their Lithuanian inspired Instant Restaurant.

However things went awry when it came time to purchase ingredients for their cold beetroot soup.

In one scene, a frantic Patricija was seen picking up a bunch shallots from a Woolworths display, before accidently dropping a second bunch on the floor.

Rather than alerting an employee, she simply picked up the shallots and placed them back on top of the display, ready for another shopper to pick them up.

The correct etiquette for handling fallen produce at the supermarket is the subject of ongoing debate.

According to Food Republic, if the produce is undamaged, shoppers need not worry about alerting an employee and can simply place it back on the pile and move on.

This would likely apply to shallots, which would not easily be damaged upon impact.

It is never encouraged for shoppers to leave produce on the floor, as this could cause other customers to trip over and injure themselves.
