Mutya Buena’s Transformation: Glamour Women Of The Year Awards Look

Sugababes star Mutya Buena presented a striking look at the Glamour Women Of The Year Awards on Thursday night.

The singer, 40, displayed her inked chest and vibrant red hair as she joined her bandmates Siobhán Donaghy and Keisha Buchanan, both 41, on the red carpet.

The group, who also received an award, delivered a show-stopping performance on stage at the glittering ceremony, held at 180 The Strand.

Her current look is a far cry from her fresh-faced appearance when she first shot to fame in 2000.

After two decades in the spotlight, Mutya, who once revealed she thought she was ‘fat and ugly’, has had a remarkable transformation.

Aside from growing her vast tattoo collection, Mutya has been open about getting her breast and bum implants in the past.

Mutya, who spent £5,000 on the procedure, told heat! magazine in 2010: ‘I researched it a little while ago. Everyone’s got it in the US and Brazil. I just wanted it a bit perkier.

‘I’ve had breast implants too – I’m now an E-cup. My breasts really hurt when I had them done, though. I wouldn’t get them done again. God, no way.’

Years later, Mutya had her breast implants removed and said it was her ‘best decision ever’.

She said: ‘I was in hospital for one day and night and then it was done. It was a bit painful but I didn’t really notice because my first boob job hurt so much. Having the reduction is the best thing I’ve ever done.

‘Having the implants out had been a long time coming and now I feel like a weight’s been lifted – from my boobs as well as my mind.’

On her face, Mutya previously revealed she had lip fillers as she took to Instagram to share pictures of her getting it done at Binsina Laser Clinic.

The Sugababes trio were overcome with emotion after Ashley Roberts presented them with the award, stating they had worked for ‘an industry who spit you out’.

Siobhan Donaghy began: ‘That was really lovely, it makes me quite emotion. To be named Women Of The Year is such a privilege so thank you.

Mutya famously left the band at the height of their fame back in December 2005, a few months after the birth of her daughter Tahlia-May (pictured in 2001)

‘This past year reminded me that strength doesn’t always have to be loud and unity doesn’t always have to be perfect.

‘Being independent artist means never really switching off… but we have learnt to find joy in the chaos.’

Keisha Buchanan added: ‘This moment feels like such a blessing. My faith has carried me through times when it would have been easier to give up.

‘When we first came into the game it was rare to see women who looked like us, Filipino, Irish, Jamaican, with our different stories. So to stand here today as businesswomen, it is about more than music it is our legacy.

‘Sisterhood is holding space for each other on days even when it is hard to show up as our best. It’s knowing when one of us shines we all shine.

‘In a world that sometimes tells women there is an expiration date, we are hear to say your life doesn’t fade you just learn to shine in different ways.’

Mutya famously left the band at the height of their fame back in December 2005, a few months after the birth of her daughter Tahlia-May.

She was replaced by Amelle Berrabah and the group carried on before eventually splitting in 2009.

Original members Mutya, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy later reformed, touring and recording new music together.
