And it’s a similar story in front of the camera, with a stellar A-List cast featuring Pierce Brosnan, Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren and Paddy Considine.

MobLand tells the story of two crime families engulfed in a battle that threatens to topple empires and ruin lives.

And it is definitely resonating with audiences, with the gritty series sitting at a very respectable 74% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The majority of season one is available to stream now, making it the prefect time to dive in prior to its finale, which drops on June 1.

This spy thriller is another Paramount+ offering that boasts a formidable A-list cast.

The George Clooney-produced series features Michael Fassbender, Jeffrey Wright, Jodie Turner-Smith and Hollywood veteran Richard Gere.

Based on acclaimed French series Le Bureau des Légendes, The Agency follows covert agent ‘Martian’ (Fassbender) who is recalled to London after a six-year assignment in Africa.

His career, his real identity and his mission are pitted against his heart, and the pair are thrust headlong into a deadly game of intrigue and espionage.

Landman

With Yellowstone capturing the hearts of millions, it’s no surprise that Landman is resonating with audiences.

Co-created by Taylor Sheridan, the driving force behind Yellowstone, Landman is led by the formidable Billy Bob Thornton.

Sheridan has left Montana for the West Texas oilfields in this gritty drama, which focuses on the clash between ‘roughnecks and billionaires’ who are all seeking their fortune amid the oil boom.

Scoring a positive 8.2 on IMDB, Landman has been renewed for a second season.

Max

The Last Of Us

The newest kid on the streaming block, Max is certainly not resting on its laurels when it comes to quality content.

And The Last Of Us is at the head of the pack.

Now into it’s second season, the series, based on a hugely popular PlayStation game, is a must watch for fans of high stakes zombie action and gripping personal drama.

The first series follows Joel (Pedro Pascal), a smuggler tasked with transporting Ellie (Bella Ramsay), a 14-year-old girl who is immune to the fungal infection turning everyone into zombies, across the US.

Without giving too much away, the second series picks up the events five years later while delving deeper into Joel and Ellie’s past while they navigate a much more dangerous world.

The White Lotus

The third season of the hugely popular franchise has sent fans into a frenzy and attracted even more eyeballs thanks to a mesmerising performance from Walton Goggins.

The anthology series follows the lives of various dysfunctional guests staying at the fictional White Lotus hotel chain.

Each season features a veritable treasure trove of talent, including Jennifer Coolidge in her career-defining role, Aimee Lou Wood, Parker Posey, F Murray Abraham, Sydney Sweeney and Patrick Schwarzenegger.

The White Lotus is the brainchild of Mike White, a former reality TV contestant and actor turned writer and director, who came up with the idea of a murder mystery with a satirical edge when executives at HBO asked for a project early on in the pandemic that they could film in a standalone setting to keep to Covid protocols.

The result, filmed at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea, touched a chord with audiences who could only dream of getting away on holiday, let alone in such luxury.

And Just Like That

After two seasons of And Just Like That, Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte are back for what has been described as an entertaining third installment.

Essentially a revival and sequel of the show that made Sarah Jessica Parker a household name, And Just Like That is set 11 years after the events of 2010’s Sex And The City 2.

The series charts Carrie (Parker) Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte’s (Kristen Davis) transition from a breezy life of freedom and friendship in their 30s to the more complicated realities of life in their 50s.

The new season, which premiers in Australia on May 30, promises more characters and storylines, including the addition of Rosie O’Donnell as Mary, who may have a romantic connection with Miranda.

Netflix

Sirens

Lavish houses, a twisting plot and a cracking cast – all good reasons to tune into Netflix’s five-part thriller about two very different sisters.

Sirens stars the superb Meghann Fahy (The White Lotus) and Milly Alcock (House Of The Dragon) as siblings Devon and Simone, alongside Julianne Moore as Michaela, Simone’s unusually demanding employer.

The story opens as hot mess Devon travels to the island compound where perfect Simone works for Michaela, to figure out exactly what’s going on with the sister she used to know so well – and her visit just happens to coincide with one very high-pressure weekend.

The less said about the plot beyond that the better, including why it’s called Sirens.

It’s one of those shows that’s best discovered first hand, but trust us, it’s worth taking the plunge.

Black Mirror

This British anthology series from the unique mind of Charlie Brooker has been dropping viewers’ jaws since its 2011 premiere.

Taking many cues from the likes of the Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits, each black Mirror season contains self-contained episodes with an overarching theme of the side-effects of the technological age.

Now up to season seven, this mind-bending series is still going strong, with the latest iteration offering up another six episodes of  sci-fi tinged drama.

All seasons feature stellar casts and the latest offering is no exception, with the likes of Paul Giamatti, Rashida Jones, Chris O’Dowd, Awkwafina, and Jesse Plemmons signing on to dazzle fans with six more twisted tales.

While three is no strict continuous narrative to Black Mirror some episodes do reference each other so, starting at season one is advised.
