Morgan Freeman doesn’t mind getting older as his 90th birthday inches closer, as long as it doesn’t interfere with his favorite sport, golf.
The Oscar winner, who turned 88 in June, is an avid golf player and lives on a golf course in Charleston, Mississippi.
Freeman shared his thoughts about what reaching the milestone means to him in a recent interview with AARP Magazine.
‘Will I still be playing golf? That’s the question,’ he said. ‘I’m pretty good at it, I must say. I mean, for a hack, I’m pretty good!’
The Shawshank Redemption star mostly uses a cart to get around the course now, though the sport still requires a lot of physical activity out of him.
‘I’ve been given dispensation to take the cart into places where normally they would stop the cart. Age makes a difference,’ Freeman shared.

‘So, I can get pretty close to the greens with the cart, but you still have to do a bit of walking. I’ve got, everybody probably noticed by now, my right foot is kind of bum. It gives me a slight limp because of the ankle. So, I can only walk so much before I wear it out.’
As he told AARP Magazine, Freeman strives to just ‘keep moving.’ He said that’s what he loves about golf.
‘You get the most movement out of golf at my age, mind you. It’s walking, stooping, bending, swinging, cussing. It’s a great sport for older adults. It’s better than bocce ball,’ he added.
‘Most days when it’s sunny, that’s what I think: “Are we going to be able to golf today?”‘
Freeman previously revealed he suffers from fibromyalgia, a chronic disorder that causes widespread pain and other symptoms including fatigue and muscle stiffness.
The condition developed following nerve damage from a severe car crash in 2008 when the vehicle he was driving flipped over several times near his Mississippi home.
The actor, who was 71 at the time, had to be cut free from the vehicle by emergency workers using the ‘jaws of life.’
Freeman’s injuries included a broken arm and elbow.

Earlier this month, Freeman sparked concern for his health after fans noticed he was acting ‘confused’ on The Jennifer Hudson Show.
The beloved actor – who won the Best Supporting Oscar for his role as Eddie ‘ScrapIron’ Dupris in the 2004 drama Million Dollar Baby – was filmed slowly walking through the show’s Spirit Tunnel as the crew applauded him.
At some points, staff were seen helping Freeman along the corridor. At the end of the walk, the aging star leaned against the wall for support.
The clip was shared on the program’s social media platform shortly afterwards, causing concern among fans who commented that the Hollywood icon looked ‘overstimulated.’
‘He actually old now I’m sad,’ one exhaled.
‘He looks so confused like he didn’t know what he was supposed to do. Overstimulating,’ another lamented.
A third chimed in: ‘He looks like he forgot where he was a few times walking down that line.’
