Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is set to return this summer, just days after a new Lord of the Rings movie was in the works from Andy Serkis.
Amazon’s streaming service debuted the first trailer for The Rings of Power Season 2, which shows that the mighty Sauron’s (Charlie Vickers) power is rising.
During the inaugural season – which debuted in September 2022 – Sauron was disguised as a human named Halbrand to deceive those pursuing him.
This new trailer – which was unveiled at Amazon’s first ever upfront presentation in New York City on Thursday – reveals a taste of Sauron’s power, via Prime Video YouTube, debuting August 29.
The trailer begins with a prophetic shot of Mount Dune, where the One Ring would be tossed into the flames in The Lord of the Rings book/film trilogy.
‘An evil, ancient and powerful, has returned,’ proclaims Durin (Owain Arthur), presumably to the other dwarves of Khazad-dum.

Something black is forming nefariously across the surface, as Galadriel (Morfydd Clark), Elrond (Robert Aramayo) and others prepare for battle.
Other seemingly innocuous surfaces take on more sinister qualities, as it’s said, ‘He worms his way inside your mind and the rest of him slithers in.’
The great Elven smith Celebrimbor (Charles Edwards) – who forged the three Rings of Power – is seen shielding his face from the blinding light of the Eye of Sauron.
‘I think he has been here. I think he has been here among us all along,’ Galadriel says, as we get a glimpse at the Elven disguise Sauron is using this season.
The trailer includes a few dramatic shots including one of Durin’s wife Disa (Sophia Nomvete) as a voice says, ‘Every soul in Middle-Earth is in peril.’
More dramatic shots ensue including a bridge being destroyed and a nasty Orc licking a blade.
Arondir (Ismael Cruz Cordova) is seen swinging into action with his trusty bow and arrow as Pharazon (Trystan Gravelle) rides in on a large bird and unsheathes his sword.
