Mitchell Pearce Sells Newcastle Home for Nearly Million Profit

Retired NRL champion Mitchell Pearce has celebrated a tidy $2 million payday after selling his Newcastle home-turned-investment property.

The former Sydney Roosters player, 36, recently finalised the sale of the stylish three-bedroom Merewether property for $1.98 million, earning him a $600,000 profit.

Pearce originally snapped up the home in 2018 for $1.295 million, and its competitive price and desirable location saw it sold after just 49 days on the market.

The property also features a home office, two living areas, a garage converted into a retreat with a bar and an outdoor pool on the 520sqm block.

In 2021, the house became a rental, with tenants paying $1,300 a week after Pearce departed the Knights.

Over the years, Pearce renovated the property while keeping the original floorplan intact.

Pearce still owns two Sydney properties he bought during his decade-long stint with the Roosters: a three-bedroom Cremorne apartment purchased in 2013 for $1.32 million and a two-bedroom Randwick apartment bought in 2017 for $1.665 million.

Both continue to be rented out, with Cremorne recently listed at $1,250 a week and Randwick at $1,600.

Pearce made his NRL debut as a 17-year-old with the Roosters in 2007 and won a premiership in 2013.

Outside the footy field, he currently co-hosts the Sixes & Sevens podcast alongside former NRL star Todd Carney, and the duo have also launched the Reboot Mindset Academy, a charity focused on helping individuals unlock their potential.

The sale comes just one week after Pearce revealed his joy at becoming a father for the first time, having significantly turned his life around over the last few years.

Earlier this month, the Sydney-born athlete revealed the happy news on Instagram, posting photos of himself with newborn daughter Alyia.

‘Alyia Pearce 4/9’ he posted alongside a love heart emoji.

The 36-year-old, who resides in France these days, also praised his partner.

‘It’s the best feeling in the world,’ Pearce told News Corp.

‘I’m in awe of my partner and her strength and just want to be the best dad that I can be.’

Friends, family and fans were quick to congratulate him on the new arrival.

‘My brother! How beautiful for you mate. I’m so happy for you,’ posted footy star Kieran Foran.

Pearce began his rugby league career with the Sydney Roosters in 2007 when he was just a teenager and quickly rose to the top of the playmaking standings, picked to represent NSW in the 2008 State of Origin series.

He retired from professional sport in 2023 at the conclusion of Catalans’ Super League Grand Final loss against Wigan.

Pearce had problems with alcohol at times throughout his career that saw him do a stint in rehab to sort himself out.

He now helps others achieve their full potential through his charity.
