Miranda Lambert on Sunday took to Instagram to pay memorial to her late dog Cher, who died over the weekend.
‘Our sweet bear Cher crossed over the rainbow bridge yesterday,’ the 42-year-old country singer told her 5 million followers in a post on the social media site.
The Longview, Texas native adopted the rescue dog in 2010 ‘when she was 10 weeks old,’ and the canine was a regular part of her life in the time since.
‘Cher gave us 15 years of love and all the chihuahua attitude and energy she had to give,’ Lambert said. ‘And if you have ever had a chi chi you know what I mean. I put her in my overalls pocket at the shelter and that was it!’
The Grammy award-winning artist recalled sweet memories she had involving the rescue dog, who accompanied her to some high profile events.
Said Lambert: ‘Her first big trip was to the ACM awards in Las Vegas. @tiffanygiffordstyle matched my dress to her so I could take her on the red carpet.’Â

Lambert said that her beloved pet was a good luck charm, as she ‘won that year so [Cher] did the whole press room with me … like she has been doing it her whole life.’
Lambert said she always took Cher on the road with her: ‘She was on every tour I have done since.
‘Thank you to her sweet soul for all the road miles she traveled.’
The country singer looked back on how she has lost loved pets in the years since she wed husband Brendan McLoughlin, a one-time police officer for the NYPD, in January of 2019.
‘I was a rescue dog mom of 9 when I met @brendanjmcloughlin 7 years ago, and now we are down to one,’ Lambert said.
Lambert said she and McLoughlin ‘sure are ready for a break from the heartbreak’ from losing loved pets, but treasure the memories they provided while alive.
‘They are worth every tear we have cried,’ Lambert said. ‘Animals bring so much joy but I sure do wish dog years didn’t go by so fast.’
Lambert ended the emotional post in writing ‘Rescue’s forever’ with emojis of a heart, a broken heart and a dog’s smiling face.Â
