Millie Mackintosh Stops Anxiety Meds Due to Libido Loss

Millie Mackintosh has revealed that she’s decided to quit her anxiety medication, which she blames for killing her sex drive.

The Made in Chelsea star, 36, has been taking the medicine for over a year to help her to manage her mental health.

But now, taking to Instagram on Friday, she admitted that her loss of libido has been taking its toll on her marriage.

Millie who is married to her MIC co-star, Hugo Taylor, 39, with whom she has two daughters, said: ‘One of the hardest parts for me while on meds was losing my libido completely.

‘It left me feeling disconnected with myself and in my relationship and was a big part of my decision to try life without them.

‘I’m grateful for the support they gave me, but I’ve reached a place, where I want to see who I am without meds.’

She explained that since quitting the meds, she’s also experienced a myriad of debilitating withdrawal symptoms.

Millie continued: ‘It’s been a real mix of emotions- relief, fear and everything in between.

‘I’ve had withdrawal symptoms- brain zaps, dizziness, blurry vision aches and pains and emotionally, it’s been a roller coaster.

‘There have been tears I couldn’t hold back, days of rage and moments where I’ve questioned whether I am doing the right thing.’

The reality star has spoken publicly about her experiences with mental health issues after she admitted to suffering from anxiety for most of her life.

As mother to two daughters’, Sienna, 4 and Aurelia, 3, she admitted that her condition worsened after having children, which prompted her to take some medication.

Millie who was briefly married to rapper Professor Green for three years from 2013, has also been sober since 2022, after realising that alcohol triggered her anxiety.

This inspired her to write the book, Bad Drunk, published earlier this year, which discusses her relationship with alcohol.

Mille said she wanted to speak about coming off medication because she feels that the subject is rarely explored and has a huge impact on a person’s’ wellbeing.

She said: ‘I am sharing this because I don’t think its spoken about often enough.

‘The best way I can describe it is like having an injured leg and needing crutches.

‘The crutches help you move through the world while you heal and do therapy and over time you get stronger.

‘It hasn’t been easy, but I keep reminding myself that I can do hard things and that this phase will pass.’

Millie has previously shared her struggles with anxiety, admitting she was suffering regular panic attacks and ‘crying every day’ as she struggled to juggle life as a working mum.

She told The Sun: ‘It felt like a bit of a breakdown moment where I just wasn’t coping.

‘I was really over-tired. I was taking on a lot. I had a lot of stress, I wasn’t managing the stress very well and my body was giving me these signs that, “hey, you need to slow down”.

‘I was having quite a lot of panic attacks and my nervous system was actually in crisis. I had to take a bit of time off.’
