Mick Jagger shares Bob Dylan revelation during surprise appearance at the Oscars

Mick Jagger made a surprise appearance at the 97th Annual Academy Awards – and shared a revelation about Bob Dylan while at the ceremony.

The lead vocalist for the Rolling Stones, 81, took to the stage during the glitzy event to present the award for Best Original Song – which went to the film Emilia Perez for El Mal.

The British-born performer energetically strutted onto the stage while blowing kisses towards the star-studded crowd – who erupted into a standing ovation as he took his place in front of the microphone.

After the applause and cheers from the crowd died down, he expressed: ‘My goodness. I’m greatly honored to be invited to give this award for the best original song tonight.

‘And as much as I love doing it, I wasn’t the first choice to give this award out,’ the singer admitted. ‘The producers really wanted Bob Dylan to do this.

‘Bob didn’t want to do it, because he said the best songs this year were obviously in the movie A Complete Unknown. Bob said, “You should find somebody younger.” I said, “Okay, I’m younger!”‘ Jagger humorously said.

‘I’m younger, I’ll do it. So here I am. And here are the nominees for Best Original Song,’ he concluded before the nominees in the category were shown.

Following his appearance at the awards show, Mick also left fans shocked that he is just one year younger than Joe Biden.

Social media users quickly took to X to share their thoughts on Jagger’s youthful appearance and energy after he presented the Best Original Song honor.

‘Joe Biden is a year older than Mick Jagger. Mick walked on stage like he was 25 years old. WTF?’ a fan penned.

Another wrote, ‘Mick Jagger is 81 years old! Let that sink in for a bit. #Oscars,’ while one added, ‘Okay what is Mick Jagger’s secret? Dude’s how old now?’

‘Good lord, how does Mick Jagger STILL look so good at whatever age he is???’ another X user questioned.

‘Holy s**t Mick Jagger looks great! Wow. #Oscars,’ one wrote, and another also tweeted, ‘Mick Jagger. 81. He bounced out on that stage like a young fella.’

One fan shared, ‘Mick Jagger is old as hell and still hopping around the stage with so much star quality. They dropping biopics left and right, where is his story?!’

‘Mick Jagger got the whole Oscars audience to stand up. So well-deserved! As big of a star as they come! #Oscars,’ one fan shared.

Jagger previously opened up about aging during an interview with The Guardian back in 2023.

‘But I hate to say this: as you get older, a lot of your friends die,’ he told the outlet, and added that ‘it doesn’t get easier at all.

‘There’s a lot of people around your age, they’re dying all the time. I don’t have any friends older than me, only one. Apart from the band, all my friends are much younger.’

Jagger continued, ‘You’re aware of your own mortality from quite an early age – it’s not something that occurs to you in your 70s.’

Also on Sunday, Mick was spotted at the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscars Party in Beverly Hills and was accompanied by his girlfriend Melanie Hamrick, 37.
