Radio star Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli was left red-faced on Monday after he hilariously failed to beat the world record of six-year-old Aussie race star Helena Carey.
The Nova 96.9 breakfast host, 44, told co-hosts Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald and Kate Ritchie he was unimpressed by Carey’s record time in the three-quarter lap earlier this month.
However, they were having none of it and challenged Wippa to beat her record of 57.57 seconds, which he assured them he would do.
A hilarious video shared to Instagram shows Wippa arriving at a race track with Kate, 45, and his coach, both of whom provide him with a morale boost before his race.
Wippa was then seen singing the National Anthem before undertaking the three-quarter lap – which he finished in 1:00:64 – three seconds behind Carey’s world record.

‘Helena didn’t have the heat or wind,’ a red-faced Wippa told his friends after the race was over.
A cheeky Kate then showed up with a pair of barber’s scissors and said because he lost she was going to give his hair a trim – and cut off some of his locks.
She then joked that Wippa could attempt the race again with his new ‘aerodynamic haircut’.
Young Helena is the daughter of former Sydney Swans star Stefan Carey, 48, and achieved her phenomenal record earlier this month.

In November, Wippa announced his shock career move – the author of an adult erotic fiction novel.
The radio host recently finished writing ‘The Far Too Personal Trainer’, which he began 10 years ago.
Wippa admitted he got the idea for the novel a decade ago when he saw his wife Lisa reading the saucy 50 Shades of Grey book, and realised there weren’t many erotic stories from the male perspective.
The radio host has been married to the love of his life Lisa for ten years.
Together they share three children, sons Theodore, nine, and Jack, seven, and daughter Francesca, four.
Wippa, known for his chemistry with co-hosts Michael ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald and Kate Ritchie, has been co-host of the popular Fitzy and Wippa breakfast show for 13 years.
