For , the pop star's impending nuptials to her football player fiancé  are the ultimate storybook ending to what has been nearly two decades of upbeat love songs and bitter breakup ballads.

It's hard to imagine that when Swift, 36, first hit the music scene back in 2006 with her debut single Tim McGraw, the country-singing ingénue had written the song about her high school boyfriend going off to college.

Flash forward 20 years later, Swift has since upgraded that high school boyfriend for A-list movie stars, British rockers and a three-time  champion.

With iconic tracks like Dear John, Back to December and All Too Well (10 Minute Version), Swift has never shied away from litigating the details of her failed romances for her devoted fanbase, nicknamed 'Swifties.'

It is a formula that has also brought Swift unfathomable success. She is the richest female musician in history with a , thanks to her record-breaking Eras Tour and her expert plan to re-record the 'Taylor's Version' of her previous hits after losing the master rights to her first six albums, before buying them back in 2025.

But between her 14 Awards and her estimated $110 million real estate portfolio, a tether of desperation, self-doubt and romantic unfulfillment has continued to seep into even her most recent releases, including 2025's The Life of a Showgirl.

Swift's upcoming wedding comes following a long list of ex-boyfriends and highly publicized romances

When it comes to writing songs about love and heartbreak, Swift has undeniably cracked the code. But perhaps that is why some fans are wondering if the singer's upcoming wedding to Kelce will provide the comfort and solace she has clearly been searching for, if her lyrics are to be believed.

Now, exclusive sources have shared with the Daily Mail the intricate details of some of her most memorable romances, including her 'fling' with 'bad boy' rocker Matty Healy and her 'madly in love' relationship with British actor Joe Alwyn.

The nascent beginnings of her relationship with Kelce have become somewhat of modern-day lore; he publicly 'shot his shot' with Swift on his New Heights podcast, she returned the favor by attending one of his football games, and the rest is history.

It was a pairing that initially caught some dedicated Swifties by surprise, seeing as the singer has made a habit out of dating British bad boys, brooding artists and method actors.

In fact, Swift had been at the center of some controversy for her brief relationship with The 1975's front man Matty Healy before dating Kelce.

Their whirlwind romance came just one month after her long-term relationship with Alwyn ended in early 2023, a breakup that insiders say caught even Swift's closest friends and family by surprise.

'Everyone thought she'd end up with Joe Alwyn,' a source exclusively told the Daily Mail.

'She referred to him as her husband and he referred to her as his wife to those close to him. A lot of people wondered if they secretly got married, but they didn't. They acted married in a lot of ways.

'She really loved him and put a lot of her life on hold or adjusted it to make him happy and see him. She was madly in love with him,' they said.

Not only did Swift appear to move on quickly from Alwyn, but her relationship with Healy also led to some significant backlash in the media.

For one, Healy made a racially insensitive comment about the rapper Ice Spice, who just so happened to be featured on the remix of Swift's 2022 single Karma around the same time.

On stage, he also performed what looked like a Nazi salute while giving a shoutout to none other than Swift's sworn enemy, Kanye West.

Despite fans urging Swift to dump Healy, it seemed their whirlwind relationship and his 'bad boy' reputation was the culmination of her biggest desires. After all, fans are convinced that Swift has long hinted at her crush on Healy ever since they first sparked dating rumors back in 2014.

'Matt Healy wasn't good to her. He was never even exclusive with her. He had a bad boy feel to him,' another insider told the Daily Mail.

It is believed that Swift's 2024 album The Tortured Poets Department is heavily inspired by her relationship with Healy, including the tracks But Daddy I Love Him, Down Bad, The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived and Fresh Out The Slammer.

But by June 2023, it was reported their so-called casual romance had run its course and Swift was back on the market.

'It was more of a fling and people over exaggerated what it was, but she did really like him,' the source said.

Indeed, much of Swift's public romances have been defined by one-sided heartbreaks and bitter falling-outs.

Her earliest public relationship was in 2008 with none other than teen heartthrob Joe Jonas.

It was the type of romance tailor-made for the cover of Tiger Beat magazine, but just three months after they first sparked dating rumors, Swift revealed on the Ellen DeGeneres Show that Jonas had broken up with her in a 25-second phone call.

Their relationship was immortalized in the song Mr. Perfectly Fine off her 2008 album Fearless, which Jonas all but confirmed was about him upon its re-release in 2021.

It's no secret that Swift has developed somewhat of a reputation among her exes - that is, do her wrong and she'll write a scathing song about you.

But for Twilight star Taylor Lautner, who is widely considered to be the singer's favorite ex-boyfriend, he hasn't needed to worry so much.

They famously began dating after meeting on the set of the 2009 rom-com Valentine's Day, in which they played giddy high school sweethearts. By December that year, it was reported the two had split.

Swift and Lautner have maintained a friendship over the years, as Lautner attended the Eras Tour in 2023 (seen) and appeared in her music video for I Can See You

Swift notably wrote about a relationship she regretfully ended in the 2010 song Back to December, which Lautner confirmed six years later was indeed about him.

Their platonic friendship continued into 2023, when Lautner appeared in the music video for her Speak Now vault track, I Can See You, and he gave a heartfelt speech to Swift on stage at her Eras Tour concert.

The exes' enduring friendship is certainly a far cry from her rumored relationship with musician John Mayer, which occurred after her split from Lautner.

It is understood the two first met in 2009 when Mayer, who is 12 years her senior, posted about wanting to collaborate with a young Swift. They later recorded the duet Half of My Heart and performed on stage together multiple times.

By early 2010, rumors began to swirl they were an item, though neither Swift nor Mayer have actually confirmed whether anything romantic happened between them.

Still, it didn't take much for fans to speculate their relationship turned sour when Swift released her 2010 album Speak Now, which included a blistering takedown aptly titled Dear John.

In it, Swift sings the apparent lyrics, 'Dear John, I see it all now that you're gone/Don't you think I was too young to be messed with?/The girl in the dress, cried the whole way home.'

In response, Mayer said he was 'really humiliated' by the song, calling it 'cheap songwriting' and a 'really lousy thing for her to do' during a low point in his personal life.

Swift's song Dear John off her 2010 album Speak Now is rumored to be about her relationship with Mayer

He appeared to respond to the song with his own track Paper Doll, in which he sang about a 'scarf' and made mention of the number 22, which fans believed to be a reference to Swift's single of the same name.

However, the guitarist later denied the song was about Swift during a 2019 Instagram livestream.

If Mayer was less than enthused by the release of Dear John, then one can only imagine how her ex-boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal must feel about All Too Well.

The enduring breakup anthem, featured on her 2012 album Red, pulled back the curtain on Swift's three-month romance with Gyllenhaal, who is nine years her senior.

Later, a ten-minute version of All Too Well on the album's 2021 re-release revealed even further the emotional toll that their relationship had on Swift, including scathing comments about an age gap and speculation he allegedly skipped her 21st birthday party.

The pair first sparked romance rumors in October 2010, when they were spotted backstage together during an episode of Saturday Night Live hosted by Swift's longtime friend, Emma Stone.

That month, they fueled dating speculation even further when Swift and Gyllenhaal were spotted arm-and-arm together, from grabbing coffee to a 'friendly' brunch in Brooklyn.

In November, it was reported that Swift spent Thanksgiving with Gyllenhaal and his family, including his actress sister Maggie Gyllenhaal. Swift famously made reference to the occasion in All Too Well, in which she sings that she left her scarf at 'your sister's house.'

In 2021, Swift released a ten-minute version of All Too Well along with a 15-minute short film titled 'All Too Well: The Short Film,' which she wrote and directed

However, things took a turn the following month when Gyllenhaal allegedly failed to show up to Swift's 21st birthday party, as evidenced in the breakup ballad's lyrics.

In the ten-minute version of All Too Well, Swift sings about 'watching the front door all night willing you to come' and her father's supposed reaction to Gyllenhaal's absence: 'And he said, "It's supposed to be fun turning twenty-one."'

By January the next year, it was reported the pair had split as sources said their relationship 'ended last month.' As for Gyllenhaal, he has maintained in interviews that the song 'has nothing to do with me.'

Perhaps her most unexpected relationship was her whirlwind romance with Conor Kennedy, the son of Robert F Kennedy Jr and the late Mary Richardson Kennedy, in the summer of 2012.

Namely, their age gap raised eyebrows. While Swift was 22 at the time, Kennedy was freshly 18 and still enrolled at Deerfield Academy, a prominent New England boarding school.

Then she started dressing like a Kennedy, wearing preppy dresses and nautical fashion. That summer, she scooped up a $4.8 million beachfront mansion on Cape Cod, directly across from the famed Kennedy compound, which she sold less than one year later.

In response to backlash over their age difference, Swift told Rolling Stone at the time that Kennedy was 'a grown man' and she's learned to 'forget about what everyone else thinks.'

But by the fall of that year, Swift's 'Kennedy era' and her brief romance with her teen boyfriend had fizzled out.

It was her subsequent relationship with former One Direction member Harry Styles that has remained Swift's highest profile romance, despite the pair only dating from late 2012 to early 2013.

Nicknamed 'Haylor,' fans continue to speculate about their relationship today and have even speculated whether Styles will be invited to Swift's upcoming nuptials.

They initially sparked romance rumors in November 2012, and were spotted on a date in Central Park the following month.

For Swift's 23rd birthday, the pair reportedly celebrated in England at Styles' family home and famously shared a kiss on New Year's at midnight before jetting off to the British Virgin Islands for a holiday getaway.

Weeks later, it was rumored they had called it quits after a photo surfaced of Swift sitting by herself on the back of a boat as she departed the vacation solo. Their relationship served as much of the inspiration for her 2014 album 1989, which included the aptly titled track, Style.

These days, the stars have maintained a cordial relationship at public events. They were seen interacting at the Grammy Awards in 2021 and 2023, and clapping for each other as they took home major wins at both ceremonies.

Fans have even shared their hopes that Styles will be in attendance during Swift's wedding to Kelce, seeing as he is engaged to Swift's longtime pal, actress and singer Zoë Kravitz.

Following her breakup with Styles, Swift's next high-profile romance didn't come until March 2015 when she began dating Scottish DJ and producer Calvin Harris.

It's rumored the pair first met at the 2015 Brit Awards, where they reportedly flirted with each other at an afterparty. In April that year, Harris appeared to confirm their relationship status when he posted a picture of Swift's cats, Olivia and Meredith, to his social media.

They went public with their romance at the Billboard Music Awards one month later, where they sat beside each other and kissed throughout the ceremony.

Swift and Harris continued to post gushing tributes about their relationship on social media, including romantic photo-ops on the beach, snaps from Swift's annual Fourth of July party, and coupled-up photos during a sunset boat ride with Swift's pals Gigi Hadid and Karlie Kloss.

They even collaborated on the DJ's hit 2016 song This Is What You Came For, which Swift co-wrote with Harris under the pseudonym Nils Sjöberg.

Swift described her relationship with Harris as 'magical' in a May 2016 cover story for Vogue, which is why fans were so surprised when their breakup was revealed just one month later.

That June, Harris broke his silence about their split when he tweeted that the 'relationship came to an end' and he has 'a huge amount of love and respect' for Swift.

But things appeared to turn sour in the weeks after their breakup, as Swift was pictured kissing British actor Tom Hiddleston on a beach in Rhode Island just two weeks later.

She reportedly met the Marvel star at the 2016 Met Gala, as the two were seen dancing together in a viral video from the event. It was also the same Met Gala where Swift was rumored to have met another future ex-boyfriend, Joe Alwyn.

Swift and Hiddleston were pictured kissing and holding hands on the beach one month later, and continued their summer romance across Italy and Australia.

He also attended Swift's iconic Fourth of July party held at her Rhode Island mansion, the same party where Swift and Harris snapped a romantic photo together just one year prior.

It was at Swift's famed 2016 party, also attended by Blake Lively, Karlie Kloss, Cara Delevingne and Gigi Hadid, where Hiddleston was photographed wearing a white tank top in the ocean with the words 'I Heart T.S.' emblazoned across it.

Days later, her ex-boyfriend Harris went on a tirade on social media after a representative confirmed that Swift had written his massive dance track, This Is What You Came For.

Harris said in a since-deleted Twitter thread that it was 'hurtful' Swift and her team 'would go so far out of their way to try and make ME look bad at this stage,' and claimed that Swift wanted to keep her writing credit a 'secret.'

He also referenced her new romance with Hiddleston, writing, 'I figure if you're happy in your new relationship you should focus on that instead of trying to tear your ex bf down for something to do.'

Her romance with Hiddleston was indeed short-lived, as it was reported their three-month relationship had simply fizzled out by September that year. But it didn't take long for Swift to find her next boyfriend in the fiercely private actor Alwyn.

While the former couple never confirmed how they met, Swift's song Dress off the 2017 album Reputation hinted to their first meeting at the 2016 Met Gala.

Hiddleston was notably pictured at Swift's annual Fourth of July party wearing a tank top that read, 'I Heart T.S.'

By September 2016, it was reported that Swift's brief relationship with Hiddleston had ended (pictured in July 2016)

It's rumored the pair began quietly dating in October 2016, a period of secrecy that Swift appeared to reference in her 2022 song Lavender Haze.

Their relationship wasn't made public until May 2017, with reports suggesting that the couple had been dating for some time. Later that year, Swift released her sixth studio album Reputation, which fans believe is chock-full of songs about Alwyn.

Not only did Alwyn serve as Swift's muse for songs such as Gorgeous and Delicate, as well as the inspiration behind her 2019 album Lover, but he also played a hand at writing songs with Swift too.

Following the release of 2020's Folklore, it was revealed that Alwyn had co-written two songs and co-produced six songs on the album under the pseudonym William Bowery, even earning the actor his first Grammy Award.

He also contributed to three songs on Folklore's companion album Evermore under the same name.

Despite Swift's lyrics occasionally giving fans a glimpse into her private life with Alwyn, it seemed the demands of maintaining such secrecy were ultimately too much to ask from the biggest pop star in the world.

In interviews, Alwyn would dodge questions about his partner because he said it 'feeds into a weird part of the culture.'

He also admitted to British Vogue that he's 'aware' that fans 'want to know' about his relationship with Swift, but the two have been 'successfully very private, and that has now sunk in for people.'

Alwyn is allegedly the inspiration behind many of Swift's hit songs

At the time of their split, reports suggested that Alwyn had struggled with Swift's level of fame (pictured February 2019)

But when it was announced in April 2023 the former couple had gone their separate ways after six years of dating, reports surfaced that Alwyn allegedly struggled with Swift's level of fame and their breakup was due to differences in their personalities.

Since their split, Alwyn has somewhat maintained his desired low-profile. However, photographers snapped him getting cozy with another famous blonde, Love Story actress Sarah Pidgeon, in June 2026.

Of course, it didn't take long for Swifties to post the lyric, 'Your new girl is my clone,' across social media after his rumored romance was revealed.

As for Swift, perhaps a younger and less evolved version of the singer would clap back at Alwyn with a biting song about betrayal.

But with her highly anticipated wedding just a rumored few days away, it wouldn't be surprising if her long list of exes is the last thing on Swift's mind.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end was linked to Maya Benberry back in 2016 after she starred in and won his E! dating reality series titled, Chasing Kelce.

The show notably cast 50 women from all 50 states that competed for the NFL player's affection and love.

However, the two only dated for a few months following the show's end before they went their separate ways.

Kayla Nicole: 2017-2022

Kelce was first romantically linked to sports broadcaster Kayla Nicole back in 2017.

The media personality and the Chiefs tight end first broke up in August 2020, and later rekindled their romance. However, the two officially split in May 2022.

Since his relationship with Swift, however, fans have accused Nicole of  on social media. As recently as October 2025, Swifties were convinced that Nicole's decision to dress up as Toni Braxton from her 2000 music video 'He Wasn't Man Enough' for Halloween was a subtle dig at her ex-boyfriend.

Nicole later denied 'tearing other women down' in an episode of her podcast, and explained that the Halloween costume wasn't directed at anyone.
