Meryl Streep and Martin Short have insisted their relationship is platonic.
But rumors of a romance between the actors and longtime friends — Meryl, 75, and Martin, 74 — persist.
And the Only Murders in the Building co-stars raised eyebrows as they held hands at an event for the Hulu series on August 24.
After observing them at the affair, a source told Page Six about their bond, ‘It’s gotta be more than a “showmance.” There is definitely something there.’
However, a representative for Streep told the publication: ‘They are just friends.’

Short gushed about his admiration for Streep when asked by Extra about their off-camera friendship.
‘I think it’s been a friendship that always grows if you work with someone and love that person,’ he explained.
After the pair stoked dating rumors this past January, a rep for the Addams Family star told People they are ‘very good friends, nothing more.’
It was confirmed last October that Meryl had separated from longtime husband Don Gummer six years earlier.
They are parents to Henry, 44, Mamie, 41, Grace, 38, and Louisa, 33.
For his part, Martin Short lost wife Nancy Dolman to ovarian cancer in 2010 after 30 years of marriage.
The couple had three kids — Katherine, 40, Oliver, 38, and Henry, 35.
Meryl joined the cast of Only Murders in the Building in season three, once again professionally tying her to Martin.

Only Murders in the Building season four will debut on Hulu August 27.
A trailer for the upcoming installment of the series premiered earlier this month.
The latest plot sees Charles (Steve Martin), Mabel (Selena Gomez) and Oliver (Martin Short) go from New York City to Hollywood to work on a movie about how their podcast was created.
Eugene Levy, Eva Longoria and Zach Galifianakis will play the detective trio in the movie.
But the three pals experience several surprises once they land in Southern California.
