Sir Mick Jagger’s fiancée Melanie Hamrick has revealed she’s delaying her wedding to The Rolling Stone because she’s afraid to tie the knot to the former Lothario.
Giving an unprecedented look into her relationship with the rock star, 81, the former ballerina, 37, also says they will move to London permanently next year so they can enrol their eight-year-old son, Deveraux, in school.
‘We’ve been engaged two or three years,’ Melanie confirmed in a new interview with Paris Match.
‘Maybe one day we’ll marry, maybe not. We are so happy in our current life that I would be too afraid to change anything. I don’t know what to call it, maybe simply happiness.’
The secret to their happiness, she claims is supporting each other and being there for each other.
Melanie and Mick, 81, met in Tokyo in February 2014 when the Stones were on tour.

At the time, the rock star was in a long-term relationship with fashion designer L’Wren Scott, who died by suicide in March that year.
She says it wasn’t love at first sight, as she quipped: ‘Maybe a spark, but nothing incredible like: ‘I’ll make you lose your mind, and we’ll travel the world!’ We didn’t even exchange phone numbers.’
Melanie recalled that Mick was in a relationship at the time so they only spoke again five months after that, thanks to a mutual acquaintance who gave him her number.
The rocker sent her a text message asking whether she’d like to have coffee together, which led to them meeting again in Zurich.
While her parents were a big fan of the Stones, Melanie admits she found them ‘boring’.
She said: ‘My mum would also sometimes hum ‘I can’t get no satisfaction’ when I asked for an ice cream I hadn’t earned. I would reply, stop mum, it’s so boring.’
Her penchant for older men preceded her relationship with the famous rock star. When she was 19, she started dating Cuban dancer José Manuel Carreño, who was 38 at the time.
Melanie insisted she doesn’t care what people say or think about her 44-year age gap with Mick because she’s happy, healthy, and not hurting anyone.

Mick has eight children. His first child, Karis Jagger, 54, was born to singer and actress Marsha Hunt, with whom Mick had a brief affair in the late 1960s.
He then had Jade Jagger, 53, with his first wife, Bianca Jagger, whom he divorced in 1978 after seven years. His children with Texan bombshell Jerry Hall include Elizabeth, 41, James, 39; Georgia May, 33 and Gabriel, 27.
Mick also has a son, Lucas, 25, with Brazilian TV presenter and model Luciana Gimenez. ‘Everyone gets along well,’ she says of the various members of the family.
Melanie was a dancer with the American Ballet Theatre and retired in 2019 – a decision which she now explains was because she struggled to balance work with motherhood.
She admitted she burnt herself out and was left exhausted so took a step back from dancing when Dev was three.
Melanie also said Dev is ‘an easy child’ and copes well with her and Mick’s travelling lifestyle.
It comes just after Melanie revealed that Deveraux has an ‘amazing’ singing voice.
The former ballet dancer and author, told how the eight-year-old could be lining up for a musical future just like his famous dad.

She told Hello! Magazine: ‘When my son was little, we would do the hokey cokey occasionally but now he will be like, ‘Mom it’s not cool’. How is he a teenager already?’ – she says she loves seeing his talents grow.
‘I can’t wait to see what he does. But I don’t want to put pressure on him as between Mick and I, that’s a lot of pressure.
‘When I hear him sing in school shows I say things like ‘Oh my God, his singing voice was amazing, did everyone hear that?’ And then I think ‘Melanie let him be a kid! Don’t be a stage parent!’
