’15 years of friendship, 5 years of the best relationship of my life. I hope we aren’t rushing into this,’ she wrote.

‘Baloo the Bear and Ka the Snake from the 2012 Birkenhead College Production of The Jungle Book are getting married.’

The post was met with an outpouring of congratulations from friends, fans and followers.

‘Good on you girlie! He’s a lucky fella,’ former Home and Away star Lynne McGranger wrote.

Radio star and comedian Jane Kennedy also chimed in with a gushing ‘Well ain’t love grand. Congrats to you both. So exciting.’

Melanie’s former Project co-star Sam Taunton also offered his best wishes with an excited: ‘Oh hell yeah!!!! Congrats guys!!

Speaking to Woman’s Day in March, Melanie revealed that the couple had known each other since high school, yet sparks did not fly between the pair until a few years later.

‘We’ve known each other for so long, it feels like we’ve been together all that time, but it’s not true,’ she told the publication.

She added that the couple only got together after discovering each other’s Tinder profiles in 2020.

‘The only interactions we had after high school were playing the game League of Legends sometimes or going to a mutual friends’ party,’ she said.

‘It wasn’t until 2020 and you had to look in your 5km radius that Shaun and I took it to the next level.’

The announcement comes after Melanie made a heart-stopping discovery about Shaun’s finances, which led to the pair losing out on thousands.

She took to TikTok in May to reveal Shaun had some bad luck re-selling valuable virtual ‘stickers’ for the online multiplayer game Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO).

Shaun discovered an in-game item he previously bought and sold for US$12 (AU$18) was now worth US$42,832 (AU$64,668) on the online marketplace.

If Shaun had held onto the downloadable content, he and Melanie would have been sitting on a sizeable chunk of a house or apartment deposit.

‘My boyfriend is going through his CS:GO collection of things that he’s sold and stickers he’s customised his gun with and seeing how much they’re worth now,’ she explained.

Barely able to contain her laughter, she turned the camera to her boyfriend, who was at his computer looking at his CS:GO profile, and asked him to explain what had happened.

Shaun went on to tell viewers that ‘back in the day’ he bought a ‘nice little’ AK-47 skin for his in-game gun, as well as a USD$12 virtual sticker to put on it to improve its look and value.

The sticker, which Shaun had long ago sold off for an unknown amount, was the Ninjas in Pyjamas holographic from the EMS One Katowice 2014 e-sports league championship held in Poland.

Melanie then panned the camera over to Shaun’s second computer monitor to reveal the sticker was being sold on an online marketplace for US$42,832 (AU$64,668).

Filled with disbelief that her boyfriend had missed out on such a lucrative trade deal, Melanie could do nothing but let out a frustrated scream.

She captioned her video: ‘WE COULD HAVE A HOUSE DEPOSIT.’
