Mel C: Spice Girls Have Separate WhatsApp Groups After Fallout and Reunion Hopes Fade

Melanie C has revealed there are separate Spice Girls WhatsApp groups amid multiple fallouts between the women.

The group, also made up of Victoria Beckham, Gerri Halliwell-Horner and Melanie Brown and Emma Bunton, were first formed in 1994 before splitting in 2000.

Mel C, 51, has now revealed there are multiple WhatsApp groups the women use to communicate with each other over 30 years on.

Appearing on Heart Radio on Wednesday, Mel was reunited with Baby Spice Emma who was co-hosting alongside Jamie Theakston as she stood in for Amanda Holden.

Jamie, 54, asked if there was a WhatsApp group, to which the singer revealed: ‘Yes, there’s several. I know there’s one without me on it.’

While Emma attempted to shut down discussion on other messaging groups, Sporty Spice replied: ‘Of course there is!’

The pair then said live on air that they are not in groups where either of them aren’t included.

Mel C told her: ‘I was going to say I think you’re the only Spice Girl where there’s a WhatsApp group of the Spice Girls without the Spice Girl. And I think you are probably the only person.’

She added: ‘Because obviously there’s ones without the others now, I’ve let that slip.’

The revelation comes following publicised fallouts between the five women since the Spice Girls was first formed.

Just last week, Victoria Beckham, 51, revealed in her Netflix documentary how Mel B, 50, had hurt her feelings when she told her ‘don’t forget where you’ve come from’.

Daily Mail previously revealed Geri, 53, pulled the plug on plans for a new tour after ‘losing patience’ with ‘little digs’ from Mel B and reportedly can’t ‘bear to share the stage with her bandmate’.

And, after Geri quit the band in 1998 during their world tour, Mel C branded her ‘untalented’ in an interview.

She made the remark during an appearance on the TV show CD:UK in 2003, after presenter Cat Deely asked her about Geri critiquing other pop acts.

‘Does she have the qualifications? What is your opinion?’ Cat asked.

Sporty responded by saying: ‘My personal opinion is that I don’t think that she does, I don’t think she is of a talent.’

Mel B and Geri were said to be as divided as ever during their 2019 reunion tour.

Scary Spice even admitted in a 2022 interview that she classified her bandmate as one of the ‘biggest d***heads in Showbiz.’

During an appearance on Channel 4’s The Big Narstie Show, Mel B said of Geri: ‘I love her to bits but she’s really f***ing annoying.’

Mel B caused further upset by revealing on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories that she and Geri enjoyed a lesbian fling during the band’s Nineties heyday.

Sources close to Geri, who’s now married to millionaire Christian Horner and lives with the F1 boss at their 15th century Oxfordshire estate, previously said the singer was ‘livid’ following Mel B’s claims.

Mel told Piers: ‘She’s going to hate me for this because she’s all posh in her country house with her husband. But it’s a fact. It just happened, and we just giggled at it and that was it.’

Adding that their tryst was a one off, she said: ‘She’s going to kill me and so’s her husband. She’s not that posh now, is she?’

After a week of silence, Geri responded to Mel B’s comments with a statement denying her version of events.

‘It has been very disappointing to read about all these rumors again, especially on Mother’s Day of all days,’ a spokesperson said. ‘Geri loves the Spice Girls: Emma, Melanie, Melanie and Victoria.

‘She would like [the fans] to know that what has been reported recently is simply not true and has been very hurtful to her family. Moving forward, Geri can’t wait to see the girls and all the fans on the tour, have an amazing time with everyone, and make some new memories.’

Just last week, Victoria Beckham, 51, revealed in her Netflix documentary how Mel B, 50, had hurt her feelings when she told her ‘don’t forget where you’ve come from’

She told ET Canada: ‘Something happened quite early on in the Spice Girls’ journey, and I have a little bit of fall out with Victoria [Beckham] at the Brits (Brit Awards) in ’96 — not the Union Jack dress [year], but year before.

‘So [we were] unreleased but a few people knew us. And there was a little fall out, and I was threatened to get kicked out the band.’

Despite their intentional fame, and producing hits Wannabe, Stop, Spice Up Your Life and Too Much, the Spice Girls split up in 2000.

In 2007 they reunited for a world tour as well as releasing single Headlines (Friendship Never Ends).

Their latest reunion came in 2019, though Victoria did not rejoin the women.
