Maya Jama has hinted at the real reasons for her split from Stormzy as she opened up about what she is looking for in her next relationship in a candid chat.
Speaking in a rare interview with The Standard the Love Island presenter, 30, admitted she is looking to marry and start a family with her next boyfriend.
The host confessed: ‘I am so happy right now but the next person I meet I want to marry and have kids with, so obviously I’m feeling fussy.
‘I’ve created such a nice life for myself alone and I don’t want anyone who’s not going to add to that. I’m in this lovely bubble and I don’t want you unless you make me happy. If you’re not, I kind of don’t need you.
Sharing her advice she continued: ‘One thing I’ve learned: some people are like, “I’m lonely, I need someone.” But the mission in life is to make yourself happy, then find someone who brings something that matches that to the table.’
Stormzy and Maya announced their shock split in July after taking to Instagram with a joint statement stating: ‘We fell madly in love in 2014, broke up in 2019, and the spent five years manoeuvring life apart.

They confirmed the breakup was ‘final’ after previously going their separate ways following a five year relationship in 2019 and reconnecting last August.
While it was thought the couple split after disagreements over when to settle down, with Stormzy more of a homeboy and Maya more career driven, last month she confirmed this wasn’t the case.
After photos emerged of the rapper, 31, his new girlfriend Victoria Monet, Maya took to Instagram to take the opportunity to say that the narrative ‘that I don’t want to settle down and have kids is a lieeeee.’
It had been reported that the former couple broke up because Maya was keen to focus on her career instead of settle down with the ‘homebody’ rapper.
Maya, who’s at the top of her game as the face of luxury fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana, ambassador for Rimmel London, and is sought after by streaming giant Netflix, is focused on her career at present.
It was revealed earlier this month the star has become a multi-millionaire following the success of her TV career and business ventures.
The published accounts for her business MIJ & Co Entertainment show assets in the company have increased to £1.83million from £1.37million.
The star appears to have doubled her earnings as she has cash worth £1.3million in the account over the last three months but had £618,774 the previous year.

Maya confessed that despite her success, which some men might find daunting, she has never struggled romantically.
However she admitted it can be challenging to find someone who truly understands her.
Sources previously told MailOnline the couple conflicted over their lifestyles, with Stormzy more of a homebody.
A source close to the couple revealed: ‘Maya and Stormzy are very much on different pages when it comes to their future.
‘Stormzy was keen to settle down whereas Maya is enjoying her career, she’s ambitious, and wants to prioritise achieving everything she possibly can.
‘She also loves travelling and partying, at just 29 she’s not ready for the next chapter just yet.’
