Maya Jama won huge praise for her hosting skills during Monday night’s Love Island final – with fans lauding the star on X. 

After the final, the star, who has fronted the show since 2022, took to the microblogging site to respond to the adoring viewers. 

Among the tweets, Maya was praised for one of her interviews and the fact she did not use cue cards – something she was glad had been spotted.    

The delighted fan penned: ‘[For real] @MayaJama eating this interview. No card in her hands too. #LoveIsland’, to which she revealed a behind-the-scenes insight. Maya replied: ‘Cutey! I pride myself on the no Que cards so thankyou for noticing’.

Adding to her organic presenting style, the host also hit out at a fan who claimed she should be more unbiased, although she remained defiant in her stance – telling the follower to ‘shut up’ amid criticism of a tender moment.

The loved-up pair beat Shakira Khan, 22, and Harry Cooksley, 30, to the top spot, while Yasmin Pettet, 24, and Jamie Rhodes, 26, placed third, and Ty Isherwood, 23, and Angel Swift, 26, came fourth. 

A number of hilarious, dicey and awkward moments took place on the show, particularly during Maya’s grillings of the stars. 

She was praised for her professionalism in the face of scandals.  

Delighting in praise from followers, Maya responded with a heart Emoji when a follower wrote: ‘A real professional presenter grew up with you Maya we know you’re a real one who had to grind her way to the top…

‘Not one of these tiktok-influencer turned journalists you get these days.’

A stand-out moment in Maya’s interviews was when Toni’s ex Harrison Solomon, 22, rolled his eyes when she made a comment about his behaviour during the show. 

In her candid style, Maya pointed out: ‘You did say that you learnt a lot being in here…’ to which Toni said: ‘That’s for damn sure’.

The camera then went to Harrison sitting with partner Lauren Wood, 26, at a table in the audience. 

The footballer rolled his eyes a number of times shortly after she made the dig at him. The crowd cheered in support of her and then he mocked the cheers by joining in.   

He then rolled his eyes again when she revealed to the audience that Cach had dropped the L-Bomb.
