Maverick Sabre Teases Rizzle Kicks Collab for Glastonbury

Irish singer-songwriter Maverick Sabre has teased a potential collaboration with British band Rizzle Kicks as he reveals he has ‘something special’ planned for his upcoming appearance at Glastonbury festival. 

The musician appeared on a Vodafone advert with the One Show presenter Roman Kemp and Harley Alexander-Sule, 33, from the hip-hop duo Rizzle Kicks. 

Roman, 32, asked the Let Me Go singer:  ‘So you guys have got something in common this summer. You’re both playing Glastonbury festival. What’s the connection going to be like there? I mean are you linking up? What’s the deal?’

Maverick, 34, cryptically replied: ‘We’ll figure out something special.’

It has set tongues wagging amongst music fans who are convinced the friends will take the stage together for a joint performance. 

Mama Do The Hump singers Rizzle Kicks are performing on The Other Stage on Friday 27th June, while Maverick is playing on the Lonely Hearts Club stage the following day.

The news that Rizzle Kicks were performing at Glastonbury Festival was accidentally announced in April.  

Harley’s band mate Jordan Stephens, 33, appeared on Arsenal’s YouTube channe and was forced to make the revelation.

Radio host Roman Kemp caused the mishap when he said outright to Jordan, ‘You’re playing Glastonbury this year,’ to which the singer interrupted and said: ‘I haven’t actually announced that yet…’

Harley has previously opened up about his ‘crippling anxiety’ and confessed he still feels ‘awful’ for cancelling the band’s tour in 2016.

The British musician admitted he ‘couldn’t visualise’ doing a tour after he suffered from a panic attack on stage.

Speaking to Jamie Laing on his Great Company podcast, the star said: ‘I thought I was (having) a f*****g heart attack. Then we had a tour (which we) had to cancel because I just couldn’t visualise doing that,’

‘I still feel f*****g awful about that, but at the time, I had to take care of myself.’

He then opened up on how his anxiety took control of his life and caused him to spiral into a ‘deep depression’.

He admitted: ‘That anxiety spilled into everything, every part of my life, you know, I couldn’t get on the tube.’

‘It kind of caused me to spiral into quite a deep, deep depression.’

‘Because the thing I love doing, being a performer, being an artist, being a person who likes being around other creative people, was like, zapped away from me,’

‘And I was kind of left with, this idea of who I used to be and that longing to be that person again, but with the physical incapability of doing so.’

It comes as Rizzle Kicks’s Jordan Stephens celebrated his five years with his girlfriend, the Little Mix star Jade Thirlwall. 

The pop star, 32, and her Rizzle Kicks rapper boyfriend first sparked a romance after he asked a mutual friend to set them up back in 2019.

Jade then took matters into her own hands, dropping Jordan a DM on Instagram asking for his ‘pitch’.

A few Zoom dates later the smitten couple were making their first public appearance together at a July 2020 Black Trans Lives Matter rally where they were pictured arm-in-arm.

Five years on and the couple are still going strong – with Jade and Jordan appearing as loved-up as ever as she shared a gushing tribute to him on their anniversary.

As their dog scurried past the camera, the video posted on TikTok showed a pyjama-clad Jade surprising her boyfriend in bed with a bunch of flowers and balloons to mark the special day.

The post then cut to a compilation of Jade’s favourite videos of Jordan, including smitten clips of the couple recording music, dancing and goofing around together.

The spark seems very much still alive between the two musicians, who appeared completely smitten as they celebrated their milestone.

A host of fans took to the comments section to congratulate their ‘favourite couple’ on five years together.

They wrote: ‘Happy anniversary to my favourite chaotic couple love you’,

‘I’m so happy for you both! It’s been such a privilege to witness your relationship and love for each other! Thank you for giving us these glimpses into your life’,

‘This man is just a walking green flag I love that for you! He just gets it how humans are supposed to be’,
