Matt Damon admires look-alike child actor

After years of comparisons, Matt Damon was finally asked whether he believed he resembled his so-called doppelgänger Jesse Plemons despite their 17-year age difference.

‘Sure, yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely,’ the 53-year-old Oscar-winning screenwriter confirmed on Access Hollywood on Monday.

On June 11, the 36-year-old Oscar-nominated actor was literally placed inside a cage on Jimmy Kimmel Live for looking like Matt since the talk show host has had a long-running public rivalry with Damon.

Jesse went on to reveal he once portrayed the younger version of the Cambridge-born blond’s cowboy character John Grady Cole when he was 11 years old in Billy Bob Thorton’s 2000 western All the Pretty Horse.

‘It was the most exciting part that I had gotten,’ Plemons recalled.

‘By the time the movie was premiering my mom called our local theater and got them to do a special screening for us. I invited this girl that I had a crush on and I was supposed to be the very first scene of of the movie. And we sit down and I’m not there.’

The Texan redhead realized his scenes had been completely cut from the film: ‘So maybe it was [Matt]?’

Kimmel scoffed: ‘Of course it was him. Billy Bob would never do that.’

But Damon only has fond memories from the Texas set where the crew were ‘freaking out’ about their strong resemblance.

‘Five people came up to me before I met him and they were like, “You’re not gonna believe how much this kid looks like you,”‘ the IF actor told Access.

‘The stills photographer took a picture of us together, because I couldn’t believe it. He looked more like me than I did when I was little. Like my little 11-year-old face did not look like it [was going to grow up to be me]. He looked exactly like me. I was like, “This is really weird.”‘

Matt continued: ‘But he’s a great actor and I love what he’s done, the choices he makes. He’s so incredible to watch. So I’m proud of the comparison…I would love to do something with him. I think he’s great. I hope I get to work with him.’

Damon and Casey Affleck will next portray robbers Rory and Cobby on the run in Doug Liman’s heist comedy The Instigators, which hits limited US theaters this Friday before streaming August 9 on Apple TV+.

The R-rated flick will also star Hong Chau, Michael Stuhlbarg, Paul Walter Hauser, Ving Rhames, Alfred Molina, Toby Jones, Jack Harlow, and Ron Perlman.

Meanwhile, Jesse’s upcoming roles include Lesli Linka Glatter’s six-episode conspiracy thriller Zero Day for Netflix and Yorgos Lanthimos’ sci-fi comedy Bugonia with Emma Stone.
