Matildas Star Katrina Gorry Opens Up About Fiancée Clara Marksted’s Challenging Pregnancy as They Anticipate Arrival of Second Child

Katrina Gorry and her fiancée and fellow footballer Clara Markstedt are expecting their second child. 

When it comes to baby number two for the happy couple, Markstedt will carry their bundle of joy this time round, after Gorry welcomed daughter Harper into the world following IVF treatment in 2021.

The pair told Woman’s Day this week that they are expecting a boy, much to the delight of Katrina’s soccer teammates. 

‘[They] were all pretty excited and they wanted a boy, so they’re happy!’ Katrina told the magazine. 

The pregnancy has not been easy, with Clara admitting she has been unwell for much of it.

‘I just tried a new medication and it’s made a huge difference. When I’ve been sat in the bathroom being sick,’ she said. 

Katrina has said that she can relate to the discomfort and has a lot of empathy for her pregnant partner after carrying their baby the last time around. 

‘It’s a bit strange to not be able to feel everything and that I’m watching him grow, instead of carrying him but it has been nice to have a partner to go through it with this time,’ she said. 

The pair will welcome their baby boy in June.  

The Matildas midfielder revealed the impending arrival of her second child with Clara in November.

Gorry, 31, confirmed the news in an adorable Instagram post which also featured the couple’s two-year-old daughter Harper and the family dog.

The post showed ultrasound images of their baby and was captioned, ‘Adding more love to our love story.’

Gorry and Markstedt, 34, were teammates at Swedish club Vittsjo GIK, but their next move is unknown after the striker recently retired.

Another club in Europe or the US is the likely destination, and Gorry won’t be short of offers after she was a standout for Australia at the World Cup.

Earlier this year, Gorry and Markstedt announced their engagement, with the plan to get married at Hamilton Island come 2025.

‘We are going to try to keep it as traditional and beautiful as we can,’ Gorry said.

‘A lot of the Matildas have been my family for a long time so they were so excited for me. ‘I’d love to have them there.’
