The couple have called time on their year-long romance, which saw Matilda, who rose to fame on Love Island in 2024, join Roman during filming for The Only Way Is Essex.
Last July, the pair cemented their close bond by being baptised together after turning to faith in a bid to overcome their social anxieties.
However, in recent months, sources say Matilda, 25, and Roman, 24, had struggled to get along and ultimately decided to part ways, though they remain on good terms.
An insider said: 'Matilda and Roman were inseparable and, despite their age, friends believed they were in it for the long haul.
'But they split earlier this month - there was no cheating involved, they had simply grown apart and decided to go their separate ways.'

Matilda began dating Roman after her romance with Sean Stone fizzled out following their stint on Love Island.
Sean later returned to the villa for the All Stars series and is now in a relationship with Lucinda Strafford.
The couple faced their fair share of criticism from both fellow Islanders and viewers during filming, but have appeared to go from strength to strength since the show's final.
Matilda frequently gave fans a glimpse into her relationship with Roman on Instagram and TikTok, even documenting their shared baptism journey.
Last July, she posted a heartfelt video alongside Roman, saying: 'When everything felt hopeless, God showed up.'
She continued: 'A few years ago, I struggled with social anxiety, which affected my relationships with friends and family, as well as my job and the way I lived my life.
'But when I stopped relying on myself and put my trust in Jesus, everything changed.'
