Masterchef star Monica Galetti has revealed she was rushed to hospital after her waters broke while she was working in Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant.
The chef, 48, revealed that she was working in the eatery during an appearance on Hell’s Kitchen in 2006 when she unexpectedly went into labour.
Monica, who quit Masterchef: The Professionals in 2021 before returning this year, went onto reveal that she even helped to deliver another woman’s baby while working in Holland, after the midwife was ‘stuck in traffic.’
Speaking to culturalist Amelia Singer on her new podcast, Ameliarate Through Wine, she said: ‘My water’s broke when I was yelling at one of chefs in Gordan Ramsay’s show Hell’s Kitchen and then next minute I was rushed off…’
Monica went onto welcome a baby daughter, named Anaïs, with her French husband David Galetti.

She then shared the hilarious moment she assisted with the delivery of a bab in a hotel where she was working, before heading back into the kitchen to cook dinner for the guests.
‘I came to England and then went to the Channel Islands with a friend and went for the weekend and we ended up staying for four months,’ Monica said.
‘I worked at a cute hotel there and you can get to all the islands there it was brilliant and from there I went to work in Holland for a friend’s family and his wife was having a baby and needed someone to cover her maternity – and it just happened she went into labour while I was downstairs.
‘The midwife was stuck in traffic and I had to deliver the baby and then I went back downstairs to cook the dinner service.
‘I then cried because I realised what had just happened. The Baby is called Denise and she is 23 this year!’
Monica previously revealed that she decided to leave Masterchef: The Professionals after a personal mental health battle.
During her time away from the BBC cookery contest, the Samoan-born chef and author reveals she sought the help of a counsellor.
‘I saw a therapist,’ she told The Mid-Point podcast, adding, ‘I’ve never done that before.

Sad news: Galetti previously admitted that being on MasterChef was ‘taking me to a very dark place’, after her nephew was diagnosed with cancer (pictured together in April)
‘I’ve never had so many things happening at the same time, I needed to reach out to outside help — someone just to talk to with everything. That was one of the best things I did.’
‘I feel more energetic, more excited to be back in it this year having had that time out,’ she told fans.
The chef announced last April that she was leaving MasterChef Professionals after 14 years because she felt like ‘she needed to be split into four people’ to cope with the demands of raising her daughter and running her restaurant.
After quitting the show in 2022, she told Good Housekeeping she was struggling to juggle her work and family commitments – before deciding to quit MasterChef.
And in a candid interview she explained how she was being pulled in various different directions to due wanting to spend time with her teenage daughter, looking after her ill nephew who has cancer, running her restaurant and doing the show.
She said of her heavy workload: ‘I freaked out at the thought of filming starting again because I didn’t have enough staff [at the restaurant, Mere], I was already going three days a week without seeing my daughter and I had a very ill nephew.’
The star delighted fans earlier this year by saying she’ll soon return to MasterChef: The Professionals.
