Sarah first appeared on MasterChef Australia in 2017.
The part-time lawyer later returned for season 12 in 2020, which wasn’t without controversy.
During her elimination, Sarah appeared to ‘flip off’ her co-stars as she exited the MasterChef kitchen.
Appearing on The Project, she was asked about the incident.
‘Did you flip the bird on the way out?’ asked Peter Helliar, who confessed to having rewound the moment a few times.
‘My lawyer training tells me to plead the fifth. I can neither confirm nor deny,’ Sarah joked.
Meanwhile, co-host Carrie Bickmore said she was almost certain Sarah had been pointing her index fingers.
‘I wouldn’t want people to think you flipped the bird when you didn’t,’ the TV presenter explained, prompting Sarah to add, ‘Absolutely not.’

Viewers at home also caught the incident and appeared divided.
‘Did Sarah just “flip the bird” upon exit from @masterchefau?! Asking for a friend…’ tweeted one eagle-eyed viewer.
Added another: ‘Hubby replaying Sarah leaving convinced she gave everyone the finger on the way out.’
But others claimed the beloved star was simply pulling out ‘finger guns’, with the angle of the camera making it seem more sinister than it actually was.
‘Nah looked like finger guns to me,’ commented one fan, while another added, ‘Finger guns shooting everywhere.’
Since her time on MasterChef, Sarah has authored cookbooks and established the Ogni restaurant in Sydney’s Surry Hills.
