This Morning star Martin Lewis left the show in limbo after getting stuck in traffic on Tuesday.

The popular daytime programme is filmed in London, which is in the midst of some of the worst travel chaos in years amid a week-long tube strike.

Striking members of Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) have an extensive list of demands, including a four-day working week and two-for-one Legoland tickets.

Amid the chaos, hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard revealed they had been due to speak to financial expert Martin, but he was notably absent from the studio.

His absence was pointed out during a segment about ITV’s 70th birthday bash at London’s Guildhall the night before.

Ben revealed that he and Cat were seated next to Dermot O’Leary and Olivia Attwood, as well as the financial expert.

‘Dermot was there, of course. Olivia came along, was sitting on our table. We had a really lovely time talking to some of the guests,’ Ben said.

‘Martin, who is going to be joining us a little bit later on, we think he’s a little bit stuck in traffic.’

Cat asked: ‘It’s the tube strike, isn’t it?’

Ben then joked that Martin was suffering from the effects of a late night, saying: ‘He was still there when I left, at half past 10!’

Cat responded: ‘Ah, so it’s not the tube strike!’

Thankfully, despite struggling in London’s traffic, which is heavier than normal due to the tube strikes, Martin did make it into the studio.

His segment, called September Savings, featured several handy hints and tips for saving money this month.

This included his advice for getting money back on delayed or cancelled flights – which can be done with online tools.

Images throughout London this week showed closed-off entrances to stations and mammoth queues at bus stops as millions of British workers look to fight tooth and nail to make their way into the city.

The strike has been exacerbated by lane closures, with commuters stuck in gridlocks through parts of central London including on roads around King’s Cross St Pancras – where the RMT’s official picket line is.

Some furious commuters have reported eye-watering three-hour journeys on bus routes to travel less than miles from north London to Kensington.

Many were also unable to order Ubers – or faced increased fares – while hire bikes were snapped up in seconds. Adding to the misery and confusion, TfL’s website crashed due to the high demand of commuters searching for alternative routes.
