One of Married At First Sight’s New Zealand brides has given one of the most memorable first impressions in the show’s colourful history.
Madeleine, 37, is set to make her debut on the New Zealand edition of the reality dating experiment later this month, and looks set to be memorable with fans.
An introduction clip ahead of the show’s May 26 launch saw the bride give a very bold first impression as she was seen giving reiki to a hamster.
In the unique video, Madeleine told how she is both an accounts manager and a reiki healer, before an insight was given into her latter career path and passion.
Madeleine was shown using a traditional Nepali singing bowl while a hamster lay on her lap, before she waved a crystal in circles around the rodent’s head.

‘Reiki is all about soft touch and it is about working with the energy,’ Madeleine said, explaining that she performs reiki on both humans and animals.
‘Even skeptics when they don’t believe it, they come for a healing and they’re converted, it’s great.’
Reiki is a Japanese form of spiritual therapy which aims to increase energy levels and promote wellbeing and is performed through non-invasive gentle touch.
In the video, Madeleine went on to explain how she is looking for a fun and loyal man to settle down with on MAFS and said she has been single for seven years.
Madeleine – who broke up with her ex-husband at the age of 30 – said she decided to join the experiment after struggling with dating apps.
In an introduction video, Madeleine told how she is both an accounts manager and a reiki healer before a segment showed her performing reiki on a guinea pig
‘Apps suck. They always just want one thing really, they always just want to get into Pandora’s Box, which ain’t f**king going to happen – not that easy,’ she dished.
She went on to admit that she wasn’t sure if she’d ever ‘truly’ been in love but really wants to find a partner to fall head over heels for.
‘I would love to have that love, I would love to be loved for who I am and not be judged for that,’ she said.
On the upcoming fourth series of MAFS NZ, Madeleine is set to be matched with Nate, a 30-year-old aviation officer from Wellington.
The couple will join seven other brides and grooms in meeting for the first time when they walk down the aisle before ‘marrying’ one another in a huge leap of faith.

The trailer has already hinted at some tumultuous love stories to come, with high emotions and fiery confrontations set to unfold.
‘It’s about to get spicy,’ one bride announced in the promotion video, setting the tone for what promises to be a rollercoaster season.
‘The road to love has never been rockier,’ the voiceover intoned as contestants were shown in tears.
The drama escalated as one groom accused another of ‘gaslighting’ while a bride also bluntly dismissed a mystery situation as ‘bulls**t’.

The trailer also featured a particularly heated moment between a participant and the show’s relationship Aussie expert, John Aiken, who sternly warns ‘don’t go there’.
John, who has appeared on every season of the Australian series since its inception, is joining MAFS NZ to help guide a new group of brides and grooms towards love.
He will be sitting on the couch alongside sex therapist Jo Robertson, who will offer participants ‘practical strategies and conversations about chemistry, intimacy and affection’.
‘I’m excited to be a part of the fresh relaunch of MAFS NZ. After being involved for over a decade with the Australian version, I can now bring all of my lessons and insights to Kiwi singles looking for love,’ John recently shared.

‘MAFS NZ will have the similar mix of drama, love, and relationship learning that the audience loves. I think those who tune in will really invest in the couples and watch with interest how they navigate all the challenges.’
The four brides set to tie the knot are account manager/healing intuitive Madeleine, 37, content creator Samantha, 26, car sales representative Kara, 33, and marketing professional Stephanie, 31.
Meanwhile, the four grooms are auctioneer and business owner Michael, 36, brewer Piripi, 28, primary school teacher James, 31, and aviation officer Nathaniel, 30.
