Married At First Sight UK star Keye Luke has revealed the reason for his split from Davide Anica, admitting he ‘crossed a line and broke trust’.
The same-sex couple, widely regarded as the strongest pair in this year’s series, had committed to each other at the season’s Final Vows ceremony.Â
However, fans of the E4 dating show were shocked earlier this week when Daily Mail revealed the pair have since gone their separate ways.
And Keye, 33, has now taken to his Instagram to publicly admit that their relationship crumbled after he created a Grindr profile – a mistake he explained has ‘cost me my marriage’.
Alongside a black-and-white photo of him facing away from the camera, the marketing executive confessed that he had downloaded the dating app while flight attendant Davide, 34, had been away working.
He insisted he had made the decision because he’d been in a ‘dark and fragile place’ and looking to cope, not because he was seeking to meet someone else.

However, Keye acknowledged there was no excuse for his actions and took accountability for causing the marriage to breakdown.
He wrote: ‘This is incredibly difficult to share, but I have always believed in being honest, even when it is uncomfortable.
‘In the early hours of a Sunday morning, while Davide was on a flight, I downloaded Grindr.
‘I want to be clear that I was not looking to cheat, hook up, or find someone else. I was in a dark and fragile place and reached for something unhealthy because I did not know how else to cope.Â
‘What I was seeking had nothing to do with intimacy. It was an attempt to escape emotions I could not sit with, and I reached for substances when what I really needed was support.’
He added:Â ‘None of this excuses my actions. I understand how it looked and I understand why it hurt. Even without sexual intentions, I crossed a line and broke trust.
‘I hate that Davide believed I was looking for someone else, because that was never the truth. But I fully accept the impact.
‘When Davide found my profile through his, it cost me my marriage. That is something I carry with me every day.’

Keye confessed he was ‘devastated’ to have hurt Davide and insisted that what they had in the experiment and after had been ‘real’, adding that his ex ‘deserves the absolute best’

While he explained that he had since been in therapy, working to find ways to cope that didn’t see him returning to destructive behaviours that hurt him or others, concluding that he wanted to move forward with ‘honesty and growth’.
He penned: ‘I have nothing but love for him. What we shared was real, both in the experiment and in the months after. He deserves the absolute best, and I am devastated that my choices caused him pain.
‘Since then, I have been doing the work; therapy, accountability, and learning healthier ways to cope, so I never return to destructive patterns. It has not been easy, but it has been necessary.
‘Looking back, I see how lost I was. The emotions are still raw, but I am learning to face them without running, numbing, or repeating the behaviors that hurt others and myself.Â
‘Now is not the time to unpack our relationship. What matters is acknowledging the truth, the love, the mistakes, and choosing to move forward with honesty and growth.’
Hours after Keye’s candid post, Davide responded to the news of their split being made public, as he admitted he was ‘deeply hurt and shocked’ after finding Keye’s Grindr profile.
He confessed that he’d had a ‘gut feeling’ that something was wrong and created a profile of his own to see if Keye was on the app, describing the ‘painful’ moment he confirmed his suspicions.

Davide said he ‘simply could not overcome’ the breach of trust in the relationship, but stressed that he didn’t regret his time on the show and held ‘no bitterness towards Keye’.
In a statement to The Sun, he said: ‘The night in question, I had a gut feeling something wasn’t right. Out of my own insecurity I created a profile on Grindr to check whether Keye was on the app only to find that my gut feeling was correct.
‘That moment was painful and it made the trust between us break in a way I couldn’t move past. That’s why when it was broken, it was something I simply could not overcome.Â
‘I won’t lie I was deeply hurt and shocked but with time, I’ve healed and found peace.’
Reflecting on his MAFS experience, the reality TV star added: ‘Even through the pain I don’t regret being part of this journey. I don’t hold any bitterness towards Keye, he has taken accountability for his actions and I respect that.Â
‘I genuinely wish him peace and happiness. Sometimes love doesn’t end the way we hope but it still leaves behind lessons that shape you for the better, for that I’ll always be grateful.’
The news will no doubt come as a shock to viewers, as the couple emerged as a fan-favourite from the moment they met at their TV wedding.
When Keye nervously admitted he had been married before, Davide quickly eased his anxiety by being understanding about his past relationship.Â

The pair were also popular among the other couples, often offering a shoulder to cry on for co-stars struggling with married life.Â
Their journey produced plenty of viral moments too, including Keye mocking Davide’s hometown of Horsham for having a Greggs, while boasting that his own local bakery was a Gail’s.Â
Their one major snag during filming was their disastrous trip to a cat café during Davide’s home stay, which saw Keye storm out, overwhelmed by the number of cats, and spend the night in a hotel instead.
The pair patched things up and remained together for the rest of the series, often speaking about their hopes for a long-term relationship off-screen.Â
However, insiders told Daily Mail this week that they’d pulled the plug, saying:Â ‘Keye and Davide have called off the relationship.Â
‘They had huge hopes of making it work, but outside the MAFS bubble, it just wasn’t the same. However, they did give it a good go.Â
‘Davide spends a chunk of his time abroad for work, and Keye has big commitments in London, so it was never going to be easy.’
Davide, who hails from Portugal, had previously gushed over Keye at the Final Vows ceremony, saying: ‘I have never had anyone make me feel as wanted and desired as you do.

‘There have definitely been moments where you have been loud, but not because of your way of being, it’s the way you show me your love.’
Keye said he had ‘never loved anyone’ like he loves Davide, who added that his husband ‘makes me feel like I’m good enough. There is a beautiful future waiting for us.’
However, taking to Instagram to mark the show’s final dinner party, which aired on Thursday, Davide hinted at concerns about life after filming.Â
He wrote: ‘If I’m honest, the only fear was life after all this and wondering if I’d still be enough for Keye when the cameras stop rolling.Â
‘But if this journey’s taught me anything, it’s that regardless of any outcome, I’m strong, I’ve always been myself, and that’s all I want to be.’
Meanwhile, Keye also sparked speculation that they had called it quits with his Instagram post after the final vows ceremony.Â
He wrote: ‘Davide worries he won’t be enough, or that he won’t fit into my world, but I’ve promised that my world can shift if it needs to.
‘Still, love can’t survive on one person’s compromise. It’s not about continually editing yourself to make someone else comfortable. True connection happens when two people meet in the middle, when both are willing to bend, but neither has to break.
‘My world can change for love, but I can’t dim my light to keep love shining.’
By the time the final meeting with the experts airs this Sunday, Keye and Davide will already have split.Â
Only two couples from this year’s series are still together, Abigail Callahan and John Shepherd, and Bailey Smith and Rebecca Fen.
