Jamie Marinos has broken her silence following her heartbreaking showdown with ‘husband’ Dave Hand at the latest Married At First Sight dinner party, revealing the devastating impact of his sudden emotional shift.
The couple, who had been one of the experiment’s strongest pairs, reached breaking point after Dave dropped a bombshell confession that his feelings weren’t progressing.
In an exclusive interview with Daily Mail Australia, Jamie, 28, has opened up about the raw pain of watching their relationship unravel on national television, describing the experience as ‘borderline torturous’.
Reflecting on the emotional dinner party, Jamie said she struggled to process Dave’s behaviour.
‘It’s almost borderline torturous to have to sit and watch yourself have your heart broken. I’ve never had to do that before,’ she said.
Jamie had entered the evening already distressed after Dave’s earlier admission that he wasn’t developing romantic feelings for her.

Jamie Marinos has spoken out for the first time following her heartbreaking showdown with ‘husband’ Dave Thomas at the latest Married At First Sight dinner party
When she confided in the other brides, they rallied around her in supportโonly for Dave to walk in and dismiss her concerns.
As tensions escalated, the experts and other cast members noticed a clear shift in his behaviour, questioning whether there was more to the story.
‘I feel like I’ve definitely learnt a lot about attachment styles watching it back. Now I can clearly see Dave as an avoidant attachment person, and that’s why he pushed back on me so much,’ she said.
Jamie added that seeing Dave’s solo interviews was even more painful than experiencing the moment firsthand.
‘He went from talking about me making his soul smile to ‘I don’t hate the girl,’ and that was lovely to hear,’ she said sarcastically.
The ‘Veronica’ factor: Did Dave’s connection with another bride change things?
One of the biggest bombshells of the night came when fellow groom Adrian Araouzou speculated whether Dave’s behaviour had been influenced by his time with intruder bride Veronica Cloherty during Feedback Week.
However, both Dave and Veronica denied any romantic involvement.

Jamie acknowledged that spending time with someone new can feel ‘enticing’, but dismissed the idea that Veronica was responsible for Dave’s emotional shutdown.
‘If I enjoyed my three days with Adrian, it doesn’t mean I’m going to date the man,’ she said.
‘I think Dave enjoyed that time, but I don’t think he was like, “Oh, okay, I need Veronica now.” Because I’m telling you, Veronica wouldn’t have taken care of Dave like I took care of Dave.’
‘I did everything for Dave’
Jamie revealed that a major factor in their relationship was Dave’s personal struggles, including his father’s illness, which she fully supported him through.
‘I made it very clearโI actually told him, ‘Don’t say I love you back because I know you’re not there yet, and that’s okay,’ she explained.
‘I was essentially like his caretaker because things with his dad were very intense and he needed my support. I was 100 percent in, but when it came to questioning his baseline romantic feelings that’s when there was an issue.’
She admitted that while she had previously excused the emotional imbalance due to his personal situation, she started to wonder if he had ever truly felt a connection with her at all.

Dave’s ‘fake’ words: ‘I thought he was full of sht’*
At the dinner party Dave faced pressure from the group to clarify his feelings, eventually telling Jamie he wanted to fight for their relationship.
But Jamie wasn’t convinced.
‘When he said those words, I thought he was absolutely spitting sh*t,’ she confessed.
‘I think he was so backed into a corner, but he barely was attacked. The men were asking questions in such a respectful way because they genuinely wanted to understand what was going on.’
‘He went from, “I don’t hate her guts” to suddenly “Oh, you’re my priority.”ย And I’m like, where the hell did this come from?’
Jamie made it clear she wouldn’t chase him.
‘I told him, “If you want me, you can work for me.” Because I don’t believe you.’

‘It felt like a sham’
When asked if there was any hope for the relationship, Jamie admitted the damage had been done.
‘For me, my relationship with Dave was like being in a nightclub. And when this all hit me, it was like someone turned the lights on,’ she explained.
‘That beautiful nightclub that felt so VIP. Suddenly, you see the trash on the floor. That’s what it felt like to me. Someone turned the freaking lights on.’
She revealed she entered the dinner party certain it would be her last.
‘I can deal with a lot, but I can’t deal with someone pretending to be something they’re not. It goes against every value of mine,’ she said.
‘The person lying next to me could be someone I don’t even knowโand that’s the worst feeling in the world.’

Fans turn on Dave
Dave had been a fan favourite early in the season, but following the dinner party viewers’ opinions have shifted dramatically.
‘I feel like, rightfully so, people are calling it out,’ Jamie said.
‘His feelings imbalance was fine, but the way he came in cold, dismissive, and like he almost hated meโno one could make sense of it.’
She admitted she even questioned if her ex had paid Dave to publicly humiliate her.
‘It was just cold. That’s the only way to describe it.’
What’s next?
With just weeks left in the experiment, Jamie admitted that while she had considered walking away, she also felt she deserved answers.
‘I definitely wanted to leave, but at the same time, I put my heart and soul into this,’ she said.
‘I told this man I love him. I at least wanted to get some clarity on what was going on.’
With Final Vows fast approaching, the question remainsโcan Jamie and Dave recover from this? Or is this the beginning of the end for MAFS’ most unexpected breakup?
