Maria Thattil has heaped praise on the ‘love of her life’ Moana Hope as she gave a rare insight into their relationship.
The ex-Miss Universe Australia, 31, started dating AFLW star Moana, 36, late last year and the couple have been going strong ever since, even teasing an engagement.
They generally keep their romance relatively under wraps but Maria has shared some rare comments about her girlfriend on The Jess Rowe Big Talk Show podcast.
She told host Jessica Rowe that her relationship with Moana is different to previous romances and described her as the ‘love of her life’.
‘It is amazing, and challenging, and growing me in ways that I’ve never experienced,’ Moana – who recently made her Neighbours debut as Amira Devkar – said.

‘In the past I thought if I wanted a career, to be that person I thought I needed to be, I needed to sacrifice everything else. But here I am with real love in my life. With someone I love very much,’ she added.
Maria, who made her red carpet debut with Moana in September, said she feels content in their relationship and discussed how they navigate life with Moana’s kids.

Of their family dynamic, Maria explained: ‘She’s [Moana’s] got kids, and it’s this whole other side to me that I didn’t know.

‘And I am learning now and I’m on that journey. I can have all of these things, and it doesn’t take away anything.
‘Because I deserve that. I deserve love and I’m enough. And it’s okay that I’m making room for this.’
Though the couple often appear publicly together, they rarely make comments about their budding romance.
In March, Maria said that while she is open about her romance with Moana, there are some things she prefers to keep private to protect her growing relationship.

‘Something I’ve learnt is the importance of protecting certain parts of your life and keeping something sacred,’ she told Stellar Magazine.
‘In this digital world that we live in, strangers do feel entitled to you; sometimes they can have parasocial relationships where they feel entitled to ask me things.
‘I always think to myself, these people would never walk up to you in the street and just, point-blank, to your face, ask you this stuff. And I feel like I don’t want that undue pressure’ she added.
The couple have been dating for several months and have already moved in together as they continue to go from strength-to-strength.
Things have been getting serious between them for a while, and Moana hinted in November that she will soon propose to Maria.

Posting a series of images of the pair glammed up for their night out at the Marie Claire Women of the Year Awards to Instagram, the pair seemed smitten.
In one photo, Moana even appeared to be about to get down on bended knee and pop the question.
In the comments section, fans noticed the romantic air of the images, with one person asking: ‘How do I get tickets to the wedding?’
Moana was quick to reply to the curious follower: ‘Watch this space!’ along with a laughing emoji.
