Many Australians criticize and call for cancellation of new MAFS season after it proves to be a ratings success for Channel Nine.

Married At First Sight’s 2024 season premiere may have blitzed the ratings war on Monday night.

But not all viewers were pleased with the return of Australia’s most controversial television event.

During the premiere, fans watched in shock as Tim’s best man delivered an X-rated speech at his wedding, before Sara walked away from her TV husband during their honeymoon.

Following the blockbuster episode, critics took to social media to slam Married At First Sight for once again airing controversial storylines this year, with some even calling for the show to be cancelled.

‘I don’t want to see any of it, hence I don’t watch it. Can’t wait for the day this show is canned!’ one user wrote on Facebook.

‘Disgusting show’, another added, as someone else wrote: ‘Turned it off after 30 minutes.’

Despite the backlash, Married At First Sight emerged as the clear winner of Monday’s ratings battle.

The Nine program dominated the war between Seven’s Australian Idol debut and Ten’s two-hour premiere of Australian Survivor, earning a whopping 1.252 million viewers nationally.
