A Sydney man who got his $89,000 Nissan patrol bogged on Elwood Beach early on Monday morning has revealed the real reason he was driving in the sand.
Mohammed went viral for the hilarious interview he did with Today reporter Christine Ahern about getting his car stuck on the Melbourne beach, where vehicles are banned.
During their chat, as he waited for police to arrive, Mohammed wildly claimed he drove onto the beach to ‘save someone’, but has since revealed to The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Tuesday that the excuse wasn’t true.
‘I wasn’t saving anyone. The real story is I’m just in Melbourne for a few days, I’m going to head back to Sydney actually,’ he told hosts Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson.
‘I was waiting for the hot day so I can get a bit of sun and tan. I wanted to make the most of it.
‘So, I’m like, you know, I’ll just go around with mates to have a camp and enjoy the day.’

Temperatures in Melbourne on Monday got to a sweltering high of 41 degrees Celsius.
When radio shock jock Kyle, 53, reiterated to Mohammed that he wasn’t allowed to drive on Elwood beach, Mohammed said: ‘I thought I could. I mean, why not?’
Stunned by Mohammed’s explanation, Jackie pushed: ‘Were you just hoping to camp there? Is that what you were doing? You were going to park the car there and just sleep in the car?’
‘Sleep in the car, you know. Just do a bit of sand drive training because I want to get into off-roading a bit more,’ he claimed.
Mohammed managed to get his 4×4 hire car bogged on the beach on Monday—attracting the attention of the local police—but he didn’t let the embarrassment dent his self-belief.
The Sydney man travelled from NSW, but found himself in strife when he drove the white $89,000 Nissan Patrol onto Melbourne’s Elwood Beach early in the morning.
He and the rented car were soon both surrounded by police officers, but Mohammed stayed remarkably calm under very trying circumstances.
‘I believe in myself. I’m confident,’ he told Today show reporter Christine, who happened to be there to do a weather report when she saw Mohammed trying to drive the car out.

Despite claiming to Today he was ‘trying to save someone’, Mohammed told The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Tuesday he was just trying to ‘camp’ on the beach
‘You know, people go to moon, you know, all those things get done. I’m not going to be able to get a car out of the water,’ he said, owning the problem he’d created.
‘Come on, man, I’m a human. You know? I’ve got a power.’
Christine told Nine viewers that the interstate traveller had ‘not only got the police to worry about, he’s also got the council turning up’.
‘Mohammed’s in all sorts of trouble at the moment because a tow truck did turn up, had a look, and went “nothing I can do”, u-turned and drove away,’ she said.
When asked by Christine why he had decided to drive on Elwood Beach despite cars being banned on the sand, he bizarrely claimed he was ‘trying to save someone’.
‘I was just trying to save someone, but he got stuck,’ Mohammed said.
‘No, you drove this onto the beach,’ Christine responded, to which Mohammed admitted: ‘Yeah I did. I was just trying to save someone and he left.’
Fortunately, Mohammed’s car was removed from the beach not long after the local council arrived to offer assistance.
It seems the vehicle may have sustained some water damage as Mohammed told The Kyle and Jackie O Show he was in the midst of getting it repaired.
And while Mohammed hasn’t been charged by police for driving on the beach, he has received a $400 fine from the council.
