The internet has been left divided after a man said he felt ‘betrayed’ when he gifted his girlfriend two Taylor Swift concert tickets, only for her to invite a friend instead of him.
The American man revealed he took a day off work to secure tickets to the megastar’s Eras Tour in New Jersey.
‘I called in sick the day the tickets dropped and waited in the ticket master cue for 2 hours. Finally when it opened up, I bought two tickets, for 400 dollars each, presumably one for her and one for me,’ he explained in a post on social media.
The boyfriend said his girlfriend of three years was confused when he said he was excited to attend the concert with her.
The woman believed the tickets were for her and a friend who was also a big Swiftie.

‘I was very disappointed since I believed that this was an experience we could do together and it would be something we would remember for the rest of our lives,’ he added.
‘I told my girlfriend that if her friend wanted to go with her she had to pay the 400 dollars for the ticket and her friend agreed to.’
The boyfriend said he understood the BFF was a bigger fan than he was, however he still felt ‘betrayed’.

The boyfriend vented his frustrations on Reddit
Social media users were quick to defend the boyfriend.
‘Girlfriend was WILD for the assumption that an $800 night out was for someone else,’ one wrote.
‘Totally valid to be upset and the money isn’t the point here. I don’t know how the discussion went but I think your partner should be the person who cares for you first than for her friends,’ another added.
Meanwhile others did not express the same level of sympathy.

‘She offered to go with you and you told her to go with her friend instead so she did’.
‘Look, if she paid for her ticket, then it shouldn’t be a big deal. There will be other concerts,’ another wrote.
