Major Pop Star Headlines Laneway Festival, Lineup Sparks Frenzy

St Jerome’s Laneway Festival has announced the lineup for 2026 and festivalgoers have been sent into a frenzy over the headliner. 

Chappell Roan, who won Best New Artist at this year’s Grammy Awards, will be performing at the annual event, which is held in Auckland, Sydney, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.  

The 27-year-old is set to bring her hit songs Pink Pony Club, Good Luck, Babe and HOT TO GO! to stages across the country in February next year, which will mark three years since she was last in Australia performing her debut tour. 

Also set to perform at next year’s Laneway is Kiwi star Benee, British singer PinkPantheress and Deeply Still In Love hitmaker Role Model, who famously dated YouTuber and social media star Emma Chamberlain. 

Wolf Alice, The Dare, Alex G, Gigi Perez, Yung Lean & Bladee, Wet Leg and Mt. Joy are also part of the line-up. 

Fans flooded the comments section of Laneway’s Instagram announcement with excitement over the major headliner.

‘HOW DID YOU GET CHAPPELL EXCLUSIVE,’ one person excitedly wrote on the festival’s Instagram announcement.

Another chimed in: ‘You FED us with CHAPPELL!!!!! 

‘CHAPPELL IN AUSTRALIA YESSSSSSS,’ one person penned.

Other Instagram users praised the festival for the impressive lineup of artists.   

‘This may be the best lineup I’ve ever seen,’ one fan shared.

‘THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR UNDERSTANDING THE ASSIGNMENT AGAIN,’ another gushed.

One person pointed out: ‘The person responsible for this needs a hefty raise.’

‘IM LOSING MY MIND OMFGGGG THIS IS INSANEEEE,’ another added.

Laneway will be bringing its impressive array of artists to Auckland’s Western Springs on February 5, Gold Coast’s Southport Sharks on February 7, Sydney’s Centennial Park on February 8, Melbourne’s Flemington Park on February 13, Adelaide Showgrounds on February 14 and Perth’s Arena Joondalup on February 15.

Pre-sale starts September 23, with general sale following soon after on February 24. 

The excitement surrounding the upcoming festival is welcome news for Australia’s live music industry, which has seen a slew of cancellations in the festival department. 

Popular music festivals have been dropping like flies over the past year, with the likes of Listen Out and Splendour in the Grass cancelling their 2025 gigs.
