Married At First Sight’s Timothy Smith has defended fellow groom Jono McCullough amid the bombshell cheating revelations from Monday night’s episode.
Jono’s wife Lauren was heartbroken when she found out her groom was secretly texting fellow bride Ellie Dix on Sunday night.
Monday’s dramatic episode saw Lauren, 32, demand to see Jono’s iPhone, only to discover he had texted bride Ellie, 32, at least a hundred times after she left the experiment.
However on Tuesday’s Bronte & Lakey for Breakfast, fellow groom Timothy defended Jono, claiming keeping in touch with other people in the experiment is not unusual.
‘I’m going to give you a bit of tea. I read all those messages, he didn’t delete any of the messages,’ Timothy began.

‘In all respect, he called me, I called Ellie, I called Stephen, when people go off the show, they want to stay in touch. You went through all this trauma together, that’s how you bond. So look, I’m going to defend it a little bit,’ he said.
‘But I’ll tell you what’s actually really got me fired up, was old hair bun dude Jacky boy and Tori. If I never have to see another nipple at a dinner party, it will be too soon,’ the 51-year-old business owner joked.
On Monday’s episode, Jono finally finally admitted he had secretly been texting Ellie – but attempted to downplay their relationship as just platonic.

‘It’s humiliating, there are a lot of messages, it’s constant. And there’s no, “How’s Lauren?” like not once, my name was literally not mentioned. Why wouldn’t you mention your wife one time out of 100 messages?’
Jono told Lauren he couldn’t remember the content of the messages he exchanged with Ellie – which made Lauren even more upset.
‘Maybe, I don’t know, I don’t remember messages I sent over seven weeks ago,’ Jono shot back.
Lauren then became furious over the personal nature of the texts exchanged and questioned why Jono was so comfortable discussing his upcoming 40th birthday with Ellie.

‘I would describe the relationship between Jono and Ellie as inappropriate. Did he mention to her when I was in hospital having surgery? What a piece of s**t,’ an irate Lauren later told the camera.
Unfortunately, their confrontation was not resolved, as Jono abruptly ended the discussion by leaving to buy food.
The saga played out on screen after Daily Mail Australia reported the experiment was set to be rocked by a scandal involving Ellie and Jono.
Ellie and Jono are reportedly set to announce their relationship during the show’s reunion.
Their clandestine affair allegedly began with the secret text messages exchanged during the filming of the show after Ellie ended things with partner Ben.
