‘Maddy refused to play ball with producers and sensationally quit. Ash was just as much done and over it too,’ an insider said.

‘Ash knew that he didn’t stand a chance with her. He called up the producers post-ceremony declaring he wanted out. Yet, they were brought back together for one final showdown.’

This explosive ending was not what Madeleine had envisioned when she joined the experiment, hoping for a chance to control her narrative and experience something unforgettable.

Recalling his time on the experiment, Ash said by the time the couple attended the first dinner party he was ‘ emotionally exhausted from the honeymoon’.

‘I was pretty much yeah, at my wit’s end. So I was like, ‘you know what? I want to see the other couples. I want to just touch base with the other couples’. And ask, ‘Am I going crazy here? Am I actually going crazy? What is going on?” he told Daily Mail Australia.

‘I had absolutely not a chance in hell with Madeline.’
