Married At First Sight star Bec Zacharia has been accused of lying about purchasing her lavish on-camera wardrobe this season by two companies that loaned her clothing.

The controversial reality star, 35, attracted criticism this week after appearing in an interview during , in which she boasted about spending almost $20K on her clothes for the duration of the show.

'On MAFS you get no budget for fashion. I was the only bride on MAFS that bought all my own dresses. Everyone else hired,' she told the interviewer.

'Yeah, I just felt like I really wanted to wear my aesthetic and make sure that I was wearing stuff that I felt really good in.'

Her comments immediately backfired, as two clothing rental companies - RESRVD Designer Bridal Hire and Sustainably Dress Hire - immediately contradicted her claims, telling Daily Mail Australia that she in fact had hired dresses from them.

To make matters worse, Bec never credited the hire companies in any social media posts about her outfits, despite this being part of her agreement with them.

The controversial reality star, 35, attracted criticism this week after appearing in an interview during Australian Fashion Week , in which she boasted about spending almost $20K on her clothes for the duration of the show

One of the brands told Daily Mail Australia that Bec had worn three of their dresses on the show, including one that had been bought for her specifically.

They said she had also worn one of their dresses on Stan's spin-off show After The Dinner Party.

Despite this, they said Bec hadn't given the brand a single shout-out on her public Instagram page - despite promising she would do so.

Despite being rival companies, RESRVD and Sustainably Dress Hire have also come out in support of each other following Bec's claims, with the latter company publicly praising the former for supplying Bec's dresses.

'Shout out to this bridal hire business who dressed Bec for the final vows!' Sustainably Dress Hire wrote, sharing a photo of the dress in question that had been originally uploaded by RESRVD.

Meanwhile, the RESRVD Instagram account also commented on a clip from Bec's eyebrow-raising interview on Instagram, saying that they had provided Bec with 10 additional options for her final vows gown, and that everything was complimentary.

'It would be amazing for her to mention my small business considering this,' they added.

The former sales manager recently appeared on the MAFS Funny podcast and told host Joshua Fox that she was currently unemployed despite receiving several lucrative sponsorship offers, because she morally objected to them.

'Someone just DM'ed me and said, 'We'll give you $6,000 to promote a gambling brand',' Bec began.

She finished by saying she would only accept job offers that aligned with her values.

'I think it's really important to look and work out what does align with you... don't just take everything,' she said.
