Lucy-Jo Hudson has announced her engagement to boyfriend Lewis Devine after eight years of 'ups and downs.'

The former  star, 42, who played Katy Harris on the soap, flashed her ring in an update to Instagram on Wednesday.

Sharing a series of images, she posed for a loved-up photo with her new fiancé before enjoying a glass of champagne.

Lucy-Jo captioned the post: 'I’m still on cloud nine. Eight years, our blended family, and a moment I never saw coming. Lew has had this planned for months... and I had no idea….

'He took me back to the Lakes, where some of our first memories began. We spent the day reminiscing, just us, walking through the most beautiful quiet gardens with no one else around.

'We talked about our kids, our future, how far we’ve come and then Lew just held me tight, telling me about how much he loves our kids, and how he can’t imagine doing life without me... and then suddenly, he was on one knee.'

She continued: 'I was already crying and saying YES before he’d even finished asking me. No big audience, no big show, just us, and a quiet, perfect moment that meant everything.

'After all our ups and downs, we’ve come out stronger, and now we get forever.

'I’m still on cloud 9 - and I can’t stop looking at my stunning ring, and the man who gave it to me. Thank you for choosing us, always. I love you baby and I can’t wait to marry you.'

Lucy was previously married to her Coronation Street co-star Alan Halsall, who still plays Tyrone Dobbs in the soap, from 2009 to 2018.

She shares daughter Sienna with Alan and a son Carter with her fiance Lewis.

Lucy-Jo played Katy from 2002 to 2005. Her storylines included being victimised by a gang and struggling with diabetes.

She also had a relationship with the much-older Martin Platt, ex-husband of Gail Platt and father to David and Sarah Platt.

Her exit storyline, which saw her kill her father, unborn baby, then herself, sent shockwaves across the soap world and lander her the moniker 'Killer Katy'.
