The Celebrity Traitors star, 42, is dating Martin Wallace, who is said to a friend of her funnyman ex Jon Richardson, having worked with him on a 2014 stand-up show.

Insiders told The Sun the couple are happily living together, saying: ‘Lucy is really happy with Martin. They live a quiet life together when she’s not on TV. They are often spotted grabbing coffee in their local area or going for romantic walks’.

While it is not known when Lucy and Martin first met – he previously worked as a sound engineer on Jon’s stand up special, Jon Richardson Live: Nidiot.

Martin is an experienced sound tech who has worked closely with a range of comedy stars including Rob Beckett and Dara Ó Briain.

Shortly after they announced their amicable break-up, Lucy was spotted out with hunky sound engineer Martin Wallace, who had been friends with her ex Jon, 43. He had worked on Jon’s 2014 stand-up tour.

Lucy and Jon announced in April 2024 that they were set to split after nin years of marriage. The couple – who have an eight-year-old daughter – insisted they had ‘jointly and amicably’ decided to go their separate ways and divorce.

It was later revealed she was dating Martin, six months on from her break up. August then saw the claims that the duo were to wed, after the Daily Mail revealed Lucy had been spotted publicly for the first time wearing a dazzling new engagement ring.

The Sun have now reported in the wake of the engagement that the couple have set up home together. Sources said: ‘Lucy is really happy with Martin. They live a quiet life together when she’s not on TV….

‘They are often spotted grabbing coffee in their local area or going for romantic walks. It’s a very different dynamic because he’s not on telly and Lucy kind of feels she’s learnt a lesson from sharing so much of her past relationship….

‘There is no denying that having your marriage play out on screen did take its toll and even the jokes highlighted the differences between them.’

Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Lucy for comment.

The comedian – who was a prominent star on the first BBC series of The Celebrity Traitors – has not publicly spoken about her new romance but last year she was reported to be dating the sound engineer.

The pair were first spotted out last October at the Lowry Theatre in Manchester where he picked Lucy up before they sped off into the night. Later that month they were pictured leaving the Royal Hall, Harrogate, North Yorkshire.

Martin – who runs a recording studio which is based in an old mill in Stockport – was seen carrying Lucy’s bags and wheeling a suitcase to a car they got into together.

The experienced sound tech – who grew up in the south Manchester suburb of Didsbury and went to school with culture secretary Lisa Nandy – has worked as tour manager and technical director with a number of comics including Rob Beckett and Dara Ó Briain as well as rock bands.

In announcing their split, Lucy and Jon’s joint statement read: ‘After nine years of marriage, we would like to announce that we have separated. We have jointly and amicably made the difficult decision to divorce and go our separate ways.

‘As our only priority is managing this difficult transition for our daughter, we would ask that our privacy is respected at this sensitive time to protect her well-being. We will be making no further comment.’

Lucy – who grew up in Hull and worked as a cleaner and teaching assistant before hitting the big time – often gives insights into her life through her observational comedy style and has described herself as ‘an oversharer’.

But she gave more away when asked about the split in an interview last September. She said: ‘People might think I should talk about it because we were so public and everyone knew us as a couple, but I won’t, and not because there’s any animosity.

‘We both agreed that while it might be weird for other people not hearing anything about it, we wouldn’t talk about anything to do with the marriage or each other.’

News of the split came as a shock to fans of the couple who had worked together on a number of shows and starred in their own TV comedy Meet the Richardsons.

The hit comedy, which has run for five seasons and is also co-written by Lucy, features the couple as ‘exaggerated versions of themselves’ in a ‘mocumentary’ format .

Episodes often feature celebrities as well as Lucy’s mother, playwright Gill Adams. The couple split as the fifth season was being aired with Lucy letting slip in the final episode as part of the plot that it may be the last.
