Love Triangle’s Chloe Hannigan has revealed new details about her surprise connection with Bernie, admitting his secret love note completely changed the course of her journey on the show.
Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, Chloe, 28, confessed she was blindsided by Bernie’s interest, describing how his heartfelt gesture threw her into emotional turmoil during the final weeks of filming.
‘I was in a love square by the end of it,’ Chloe said. ‘I absolutely did not expect this to happen at all – and even watching the episodes back, seeing Bernie so interested in me from literally day one… I had no idea. It was very shocking.’
The turning point came when Bernie slipped Chloe a handwritten note off camera after a dinner party – a bold move that left her rattled and emotional.
‘He actually slipped it to me in my Uber after the dinner party, and then I got a call from a producer telling me to put the letter away and not look at it,’ she revealed. ‘I felt like I was going to get in trouble.’
Despite the confusion, the contents of the letter struck a chord.

‘The things that were written in that letter were exactly what I came in here looking for – someone who wanted me, who knew they wanted me, with no ifs or buts,’ she said.
‘It was a very pleasant surprise, but it completely took me off guard.’
At that point, Chloe and Bernie hadn’t spent much time together alone.
‘Everything you’ve seen on the show – that’s all Bernie and I had together,’ she added.
‘We hadn’t had many one-on-one conversations, so the letter changed my perspective.’
While she wanted to be honest with Beck and Emma about the letter, Chloe said she held off out of fear that the situation might be meaningless.
‘I didn’t want to impact the bond and relationship we had for something that potentially had no genuine meaning,’ she explained.
‘I wanted to speak to Bernie first – to see if he genuinely meant what he wrote.’

That conversation with Bernie finally happened at the final party – just before they shared a kiss that, according to Chloe, left a lasting impression

That conversation with Bernie happened at the final party – just before they shared a kiss that, according to Chloe, left a lasting impression.
‘When we kissed and had that discussion about his intentions, that was the most appreciated and seen I had felt the entire season,’ she said.
‘That was just based off one conversation – and when you compare that to six weeks living with someone and not feeling heard or validated, it speaks volumes.’
Chloe admitted the moment felt ‘so wrong’ at the time – simply because it didn’t fit into the structure she had created in her mind.
‘To me, it wasn’t ever an option that I’d end up with someone other than Beck or Emma,’ she said. ‘I’m very structured and organised, so when things didn’t go to plan, it threw me off.’
The kiss with Bernie may have been spontaneous – but the impact was powerful.
‘He couldn’t keep his hands off me,’ she laughed. ‘But more than that – he made me feel validated and heard. It was the first time I felt that all season.’
Chloe also opened up about the guilt she felt for not telling her matches sooner.

Bernie was originally paired with Ariana
‘If I could do it all again, I would’ve sat down with Beck and Emma and been transparent about the letter right away,’ she said.
‘I was deterred from having that conversation… I felt like I couldn’t. I’m a bit of a goody two shoes. I follow the rules. But that left me stuck between a rock and a hard place.’
Watching the moment back has stirred up mixed emotions.
‘There are many regrets and emotions I’ve been working through,’ she admitted. ‘But unfortunately, this is just how the cookies crumbled.’
Love Triangle Season 3 reunion will air on Stan on Sunday, May 18 – and Chloe promises it’s going to be an emotional ride.
‘It’s explosive, emotional, and shocking,’ she teased. ‘I’ve watched a lot of reality reunions, and this is one of the most dramatic I’ve ever been part of.’
