Eagle-eyed Love Island viewers have claimed they have ‘worked out’ the moment that Jake Cornish decided to quit during last night’s launch show.
After the news of the reality star’s exit broke, fans began to speculate over the reason behind Jake’s exit so soon into the series.
During the first coupling on Monday night, Jake, 26, was paired with his ex Liberty Poole, who he met on season seven of the show, by the voting public.
Fans have now claimed that Jake decided to quit the moment he was paired with Liberty, as they insisted they would not rekindle their relationship.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, viewers speculated that Jake lost hope in his experience after being paired with his ex-girlfriend again.

One person noted that Jake looked ‘uncomfortable’ to be paired with Liberty, writing: ‘So Jake’s left the villa, you could see he felt uncomfortable and off even before he was paired with Liberty.’
Another suggested it was because of his pairing with Liberty, but because none of the girls stepped forward for him when they were asked who they would like to be paired with.
They said: ‘Jake has quit Love Island All Stars thanks to the public that thought it was funny to match him back with Liberty and cos no girls wanted to match with him when Maya asked…’
Another agreed, writing: ‘Jake dropping out of All Stars quite early. Not being picked then having the public couple you up with your ex isn’t fun.’
A different person said: ‘Jake when they announced he was being paired with Liberty [crying faces].’
One other said: ‘Jake leaving the villa already? He hates Liberty’s guts!’
Another said: ‘I don’t blame Jake for leaving the villa. Why would the public pair him with his ex?’
One other said: “Don’t hate the girl”… quits Love Island hours after being put in a couple with her. I guess Jake did indeed hate the girl.’
One fan speculated: ‘I’m glad Jake left the villa. He knew what it was gonna turn into when he saw Liberty. Producers were definitely gonna turn him in the villain again.’
A source has confirmed fans suspicions, as they claimed he ‘couldn’t stay’ after the public voted for the exes to be coupled up together.
‘Jake was really shocked to see Liberty in the villa – they had no idea the other person would be there,’ a source told The Sun.
‘It was clear from the start they wouldn’t get back together, then none of the girls wanted to step forward for him.
‘Jake had a nice three days in the villa and had a very emotional chat to Maya Jama, he couldn’t stay in the villa so he quit the show. It’s not his time and it’s not the right time to find love.’
MailOnline contacted ITV and Jake’s representatives for comment.
Jake and Liberty were among 12 former Islanders who appeared on the new spin-off show. The series sees past contestants head into the villa to try to find love once more.

She got a nasty surprise when – not only was she was faced with her ex-boyfriend Jake – but the public voted for them to form a couple.
Liberty could be heard saying ‘oh my god’ as Jake made his arrival into the villa and they quickly shot down any potential of rekindling their flame.
When Maya asked: ‘Is there any room for a rekindle do we think?’ both Liberty and Jake immediately shook their heads and in unison replied: ‘No.’
The pair shared a turbulent relationship on the show in 2021, with Liberty falling hard and fast for Jake, but her feelings seemingly not being reciprocated.
The couple became the first to become official in series seven.
However, during the Casa Amor loyalty test, Jake was seen encouraging his male co-stars to play away from their partners.
Clips of this moment were played during the iconic Movie Night, as well as earlier conversations of him talking to the boys about his feelings for Liberty.
In one video he told the guys: ‘Her personality is mint, I can’t fault her. It’s like talking to Jake with a wig on. It’s just not that 100 per cent where I look at her and go… I haven’t got the girl there where I’m like f*** me I want to rip your clothes off.

‘I don’t want to fake any s*** you know what I mean? I don’t want to say I really do like her when I don’t, I’d be lying to myself.’
Jake was also accused of ‘gaslighting’ and demonstrating ‘toxic’ traits after he failed to compliment Liberty, and made comments on her appearance and ‘messy habits’.
Liberty previously said she would encourage her ex to focus on pursuing a new romance in the villa if he was to enter before the launch.
She said: ‘I haven’t spoken to him since. If he’s in there and wants a conversation then I’m happy to do that… at the time I didn’t have any regrets about my experience in the villa. I did what was right for me.
‘I wish him the best and if we were both in there together I want him to focus on finding love because that’s what I’m going to be doing.
‘I don’t want us being in the same room to take away from each other’s experiences. I will be civil… maybe we could even be mates… who knows?’

How did the Barbie Movie come about? I was invited to an afterparty by Margot Robbie and then ended up at an after party with her. I started to panic and make conversation with her, just having really stupid chats. I’ll be honest, I don’t really plan on being ‘Messy Mitch’. It just depends on what day of the week it is. I wear my emotions on my sleeve and what you see is what you get. I am very honest and very opinionated and I think that’s what people like me for. If I don’t agree with something, I’m not going to hold it back.
