Love Island Fans Mock Islander Conversations about Exclusivity and Criticize Jessica’s Claim of Having a Husband

Love Island fans ridiculed Islanders for ‘manufactured’ conversations of exclusivity four days before the final as Jessica Spencer joked: ‘I’ve got a husband now.’

The ITV2 reality show draws to a close on Monday, and the Islanders used Thursday’s episode to cement their relationships.

When Ayo Odukuya, 25, told Jessica, also 25, he wanted to be exclusive, she replied: ‘Of course I do!’ and the pair kissed before Jessica joked: ‘Do I basically have a husband?’

Elsewhere, Joey Essex told Jessy Potts that she was the only girl he wants, and she expressed the same sentiment.

Joey, 33, then confirmed: ‘So, we’re exclusive, then.’ And Jessy, 25, replied: ‘Looks like it,’ and the two shared a sweet kiss.

Despite all the love in the air, viewers were left squirming by the convenient timing of the confessions and Jessica’s brazenness.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, they wrote: ‘LOOL what is wrong with Jessica. How she say so I basically have a husband scaring Ayo…#LoveIsland’;

‘Husband bawo? Jessica abeg’;

‘What is with all this exclusive sh**?’;

‘The producers deffo tell them to ask the ‘exclusive’ question it’s so manufactured at this point’

‘Everyone becoming ‘exclusive’ on their final dates cuz they see that cash prize #loveisland’;

‘Maybe I’m a hater but making each other exclusive 2 minutes before the final, no more recouping & no new bomb shells is pointless to me #loveisland’;

‘Jessica went from ‘exclusive’ to ‘husband’ . And Ayo’s reaction was the funniest. #loveIsland’;

‘”So I basically have a husband” Jessica come slowly please you are actually dealing with a clown #loveisland’;

‘Sorry Ayo, your mouth says one thing, but your eyes tell a VERY different story. Exclusive I’m not a fan but Jess deserves so much more #loveisland #LoveIslandUK.’

Thursday’s episode also saw Grace Jackson and Reuben Collins bade an emotional farewell to their fellow Islanders after their shock dumping on Wednesday night.

Viewers were left in shock on Wednesday when the pair, voted the villa’s ‘least compatible couple’ by the public, were booted out just days before the final.

In a spoiler for Thursday’s episode, Grace, 25, and Reuben, 23, received a text informing them that their Love Island journey had come to an end.

During a group hug with most of the girls of the villa, a tearful Grace is heard saying: ‘I’m going to miss you girlies so much.’

As they prepared their things, Reuben joked: ‘Oh, my lady, it’s time for us to ride off into the sunset.’

Just before they exited the Villa, Joey headed over to Grace, his ex-flame from both inside and outside the villa, to say goodbye.

Reflecting on her experience in the Villa, Grace said: ‘The fact that I’m walking out here with Reuben just makes it so much better.

Reuben agreed: ‘It’s sad to leave everyone, however, look who I’ve walked out with, I’m winning regardless.’

On Wednesday, during a dramatic game of Couple of Sorts, Grace and Reuben were deemed the couple who were least likely to work on the outside by the public and were therefore dumped.

The challenge saw the islanders rank themselves, and then discovered if the public voted the same way.

The final fateful question was : ‘Which couple is least likely to work on the outside?’

The contestants debated and then took their positions on the podium, ranking Grace and Reuben at the top – with viewers agreeing that the pair were least likely to last in the real world.

In second place were Jessy and Joey, while Jess and Ayo were in third.

Grace quipped: ‘I don’t agree and I’ll prove you all wrong,’ before an unexpected text rang out in the villa.

Josh then read out the message which revealed Grace and Reuben had been dumped from the island.

Speaking after leaving the villa, Grace said in an interview with ITV: ‘I feel good about leaving the Villa.

‘It’s been a rocky road but I’m pleased with how I handled everything as gracefully as I possibly could, it’s been an incredible experience and I’ve loved every second of it.

‘I’m leaving with what I came in for with Reuben and to make it to the final week with all of the other Islanders is amazing.

‘We are going to take every day as it comes but I’m going to go down to Surrey and he’s also planning to visit me in Manchester.

I can’t wait for us to have date night and meet the rest of each other’s families.

‘We are in a really good place and love being around each other so I’m excited to see where things go for us.’

Reuben added: ‘In terms of the public opinion, I had a suspicion they might feel that way because we’re a new couple and also because of the distance.

‘I personally disagree with it. We were around each other 24/7 in there!

‘I personally think it’s a credit to our connection in an environment where everything is sped up, we have done it at our own pace.

For me, I think that’s going to be most sustainable in the long run as we’ve set up good foundations for a relationship.

‘When we found out we were leaving, I wasn’t sad, I knew I lived every day to the max and there are a lot of stronger couples in there.

‘We know how strong our connection is and the track we’re on.

‘It was all round a great experience and the fact I got to leave the Villa with an all around angel that I’m very much into and likes me back, I can’t ask for more.’

It comes as Love Island has been hit with hundreds of Ofcom complaints once again as outraged fans fumed over Sean and Joey Essex’s behaviour in the villa.

During Sunday night’s episode, 253 viewers issued a complaint to the broadcasting regulator about Joey and Sean Stone’s treatment towards their fellow islanders during the Grafties Awards.

Ofcom confirmed that the complaints were related to the duo’s behaviour towards some of their contestants.

Many fans also slammed the pair on X for continuously ‘pot-stirring’ and meddling in their rival’s relationships.

Throughout his journey on the ITV dating show, Joey has caused a divide over his behaviour in his friendships and relationships, with some branding him a ‘master manipulator’.

Joey came under fire when he revealed Mimii’s ‘secret mission’, medaled with ex-fling Grace Jackson’s couple and disregarded Jessy Potts.

Love Island continues at 9pm on Thursday on ITV2 and ITVX.

LOVE ISLAND 2024: MEET THE CONTESTANTS

85377925 0 image a 74 1716821102227

NAME: Mimii Ngulube

AGE: 24

FROM: Portsmouth

OCCUPATION: Mental Health Nurse

WHY LOVE ISLAND? The pool in Portsmouth is not giving. I’ve tried dating and speaking to people on social media and it just hasn’t been successful. Applying was a spontaneous thing, I didn’t expect to get here!

WHAT WILL YOU BRING TO THE VILLA? My girls are my rocks and I’m theirs, so I’ll be a good friend as well as going in there to find a man. I like dressing up, so I’ll bring style, and I’d like to think I’m quite funny so I’ll make people laugh. Bringing honesty as well – I’m good at picking up on people’s personality traits and side-eyeing those who might be liars.

NAME:  Sean Stone

AGE: 24

FROM: Hertford

OCCUPATION: Sweets Salesman

WHY LOVE ISLAND? I’ve always been one for relationships, and when you have found someone you want to be with it’s the best feeling. Now is the perfect time, the one thing that is missing is my soulmate.

HOW WOULD FRIENDS/FAMILY DESCRIBE YOU? Very loving, caring and thoughtful. I’m the kind of guy that, if you broke down on the motorway and needed your tyre changed, I’d be there at any time of night.

NAME: Ayo Odukoya

AGE: 25

FROM: Canning Town

OCCUPATION: Model

WHAT WILL YOU BRING TO THE VILLA? I think I’d bring excitement and joy. I think people would have someone to come to and talk to and feel comfortable being around or to have a laugh with. I think I’m somebody everyone would take to.

WHY SHOULD SOMEBODY DATE YOU? I feel like the way I carry myself is very respectful and I think people take to that and once you show who you are to somebody you get it back tenfold. The way I am gives off a good enough energy for people to feel comfortable around me.

NAME:  Nicole Samuel

AGE: 24

OCCUPATION: Accounts Manager

WHY ARE YOU SINGLE? I’ve been enjoying single life and the attention of different boys, it’s fun. I’ve enjoyed being able to go on holiday with the girls and not having to worry about someone back home. All the girls are there texting in their room and I’m out till 4 in the morning living my best life.

WHAT IS SOMETHING NOT MANY PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT YOU? I became a world champion dancer in 2011, not many people know that. I was a professional street dancer.

AGE: 21

WHAT’S YOUR TYPE ON PAPER? Obviously looks but humour is a big thing for me, I’m a bit of a wind up so I want a girl who can give it back. Loyalty is another one for me: I think that’s the most important thing to look for in a relationship.

WHAT IS SOMETHING NOT MANY PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT YOU? When I was in Malia on a boys holiday I pretended to be Liam Reardon from series 7 to get into a club because they wouldn’t let us in. It worked and we ended up getting a private booth and free drinks all night.

I also have a very sarcastic sense of humour, so I’ll make everyone laugh, but I’m a Sagittarius, so I also have a fiery side and I’m not afraid to say what I think or stand my ground. I’m not very good at taking ‘no’ for an answer.
