And in a bid to let go of sleeping in her son's bed after four years, she has now made a few upgrades to his furniture.

She shared several photographs on Instagram that showed how she was inspired by designer looks at high-street prices.

One of the highlights of the room was a £505 Alfred Newall Bobbin Lamp base and a £245 Munro and Keer lamp shade look-a-like from La Redoute, which costs a fraction of the price at £52.99.

Alternatives to the lamp also include a Birdie Fortescue twisted wooden table lamp, which is priced at £115.

This could be paired with Pooky scalloped straight empire shade, which is sold for £105.

Alongside her update, Louise penned: 'We set ourselves a challenge to update Leo’s room now he’s turned 4 years old.

'The challenge wasn’t just to mix up the design and to install brilliant bits of furniture, it was also to try and change the energy in there to encourage him to sleep in his own bed all night long without any corridor creeping.

'I can’t believe I’m admitting this, but I’ve spent 1hr+ with him in bed (until he falls asleep) every night since he was born (except for the odd hospital stay that reinforced how much I love this habit).

'But it’s time for me to buy back a bit of me time in the evenings and for him to grow up a bit and develop some more independence.

'When it came to the re-design we wanted it to feel boyish, fun, practical, calming, have him involved in the process and to act like a safe space… all while fitting into our budget.

'We managed to incorporate all the updates on the big pieces he needed, like his new wooden bed and his wardrobe (which is currently his favourite place to play hide and seek). I’ve always found the quality from La Redoute very reliable; whether it’s furniture or textiles, it’s consistently good.

'The biggest change has been sleep. He’s now in his own bed almost every night, which has taken a while to get to. It’s not perfect, but having a room that feels like he’s had some part in designing has definitely helped.

'I love the combination of blue and red, it feels playful, slightly circus-like in a way, but still works as he gets older and blends nicely with the panelling and wallpaper. It adds a bit of life to the room without it feeling too young or too themed, which was important to me.

'I love children’s bedrooms because you can throw lots of trinkets and lots of artwork into the space and it all just seems to work to add personality.

'I also love that you can fit lots of furniture into small spaces without the room ever feeling cramped because everything is a little smaller. The storage in this wardrobe is amazing and the shelves are great for decorating.'

Designed to feel both playful and practical, the refreshed scheme features a bold red and blue colour palette alongside thoughtfully chosen furniture and soft furnishings.

Complete with a new bed, bedside table and wardrobe, the space strikes a balance between fun and functionality while maintaining a calm and cosy feel.

Buying director at online lighting destination ValueLights, Julia Barnes said: 'The redesign featured our powder blue bobbin table lamp with blue trim scallop shade, which offers a softer, more decorative alternative to clean-lined styles while bringing movement and playfulness into the space.

'We're seeing more homeowners opt for lighting that doubles as a design feature rather than something purely purposeful, with scalloped silhouettes and bobbin bases delivering that perfectly.

'Organic shapes like scalloped styles worked beautifully within the brief for Leo's bedroom makeover, helping to create a space that feels playful yet considered.

'Scalloped designs feel fresh, modern and full of personality, making them an ideal choice for more characterful interiors.'
