She explained she was with designer Amanda Wakeley at one point, who encouraged her to place at bet with her.

Lorna said: 'I wore Amanda Wakely for my wedding, so around December time I did a video with John wearing her dress, so that was nice. I had a good natter about that, and then she was like, "come on, let's go and put a bet on", anyway, we get to the betting box.

'And she said, look, one of the horses is called Johnny's Jewellery. She was like, "shall we have a go, shall we have a punt?" And it was a bit of an outside one, it didn't have odds on to win.

'But we were kind of like, yeah, let's do it, so I put I put 20 pounds on each way, so 10 pounds each way, and she did 40 pounds, so 20 pounds each way.

'Anyway, it won, it flipping won. So we were buzzing, she walked away with about 500-600 quid. I'm not sure how much I got in the end, I think I got back £250. But I'm absolutely buzzing, so I had all this cash, and it was just such a John... It was just brilliant, it really made me smile, it was just a brilliant, brilliant moment, and yeah... I was really, really teary, to be honest.

'I'm teary now just thinking about it. So yeah, I thought I'd share that with you and yeah, it was just a lovely day.

'I really, really enjoyed it, even though he wasn't there with me, he felt like he was there in spirit. I'm really grateful to Jane and Julian for letting me come.'

John, who was 21 years Lorna's senior, battled stage four adrenal cancer after being diagnosed in April 2023.

Lorna announced his death on February 12. The couple had been married for 16 years.

Returning to social media earlier this week, Lorna told fans: 'I haven't spoken to you in so long. I have been looking through my messages and I keep getting this consistent message from people saying they miss me and hope I'm alright. And I thought I miss you guys too - so here I am.

'We had John's funeral yesterday and it was beautiful. It really was beautiful. People I'd not seen in a long time turned up. I knew we'd have a good turn out because people loved John.

'I was just really touched by that and it was a good day, it was good to chat about him and celebrate him. We had a humanist celebration. He would have loved, and it's crazy to say it, that funeral.

'We had the funeral and then after we had all of his favourite foods on the buffet and his favourite wines. It was a proper send off for a brilliant man. He was just a really generous brilliant man.'

She continued: 'For the next week I am going to focus on getting this charity sale happening as we postponed it due to how poorly John was. He died within five days of what should have been that sale. It will be a lovely way to remember him.

'So that is what I will be working on and I think that is what I need at the minute. I need to be busy and doing things. I am going to see my mates and not stay at home too much.

'But I am really grateful for all the messages, so thank you to all of you for being exactly what I've needed, so thank you.'

Lorna had planned a charity event to raise money for Maggie's cancer charity and The Meath Epilepsy Charity.

But that week John was too ill for her to go ahead with the event.

Announcing John's death, Lorna shared a heartbreaking tribute, writing: 'My beautiful, brave John died yesterday. I am heartbroken.

'We were together to the very end, at home, in our own bed and holding hands which is exactly what he wanted.

'The last conversation we had I asked him how he was feeling and he replied “rough but in love” and that was so him, to the point and choosing to put aside his fears to make me feel cherished and loved.

'John and I were so grateful to the district nurses who came daily to support us and make him comfortable.

'Anna was his favourite nurse and the kindness she showed him was beyond, she was a real-life angel.

'We couldn’t have had those last few days together at home without that care and my mum who has been with us keeping me strong when I needed to stay strong for John.

'John you are a class act and I will love you forever.'
