Jade Thirlwall has announced her debut solo single Angel Of My Dreams will be available to buy or stream from July 19 in a huge career move.

The former Little Mix singer, 31, introduced her fresh solo career by dropping her surname, following into the footsteps of pop icons Cher, Madonna and former Girls Aloud star Cheryl.

The brand new single is said to be a ‘frenetically shapeshifting, gloriously OTT banger that explores her love/hate relationship with the pop industry’.

‘What I’m going for is a pop punch to the face. I want people to be like ‘oh my god, I didn’t expect that’ – but then want to listen to it again,’ the star said.

The forthcoming record was written in LA by Jade alongside Steph Jones (Sabrina Carpenter’s Espresso), Pablo Bowman (Calvin Harris’ Miracle) and producer Mike Sabbath (RAYE).

And it seems the future banger will be talking bluntly about Jade’s controversial relationship with the music industry since her former days with the Brit Award-winning girlband Little Mix.

‘I didn’t want to do a safe first single, that was really important to me,’ she stated.

‘I’m setting the tone of who I am as an artist on my own. I want people to hear it and be like ‘what the fuck is that song?’. My worst nightmare is for someone to hear my song and go ‘that’s nice’.’

The hit will be punchy and unapologetic, with the songstress saying it delivers ‘big pop girl energy’ after a ‘long, carefully chosen path’ to write it.

She teased it’s ‘OTT, it’s ridiculous and it’s gloriously WTF’.

‘I’m so proud of it and I can say that with chest. The fans have waited long enough so now we just want to give it to them,’ she said proudly amid her major career move.

When Little Mix announced their hiatus back in 2022, Jade began to set her solo career in motion across multiple studio sessions with collaborators including the likes of MNEK, Cirkut, Lostboy, RAYE, Lauren Aquilina and Dave Hamelin alongside Mike, Steph and Pablo.

Many fans flooded Jade’s social media platform with thrilled comments about her return to the music industry.

Jade was part of the hit girlband Little Mix who formed in 2011 on XFactor and made history as the only female group to ever win the singing contest, composed by Jade, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Perrie Edwards and Jesy Nelson.

In December 2020 Jesy, 33, announced she’d made the tough decision to quit after saying that being in the band took a toll on her mental health.

The remaining three continued sticking together as a band until 2022, when they announced a hiatus and took on their solo careers.
